Whats your travel setup?

We are returning from a two week trip to Nice, Genova, Padova, Venice, Cinque Terre, and Avignon.
I used the M9 and the EPL1. It was a perfect set for me. Most of the time, the 35/1.4 Summilux was on the M9 while the Zeiss 45/2 was on the EPL1.
I used the Canon 100/3.5 very little, but I used the CV 25/4 on several days.
I would not mix film with digital. Use only one. Keep things simple and light.
Enjoy the special occasion.
 
Medium format for me. If I print anything I want it large.

Headed to Minsk, Belarus at the end of June for a couple of weeks. Taking a miniature Crown Graphic with RH12 6X6 and Horseman 6X9 (adapted) backs. Lenses are 65/6.8 Angulon and 105/3.7 Kodak Ektar.

This goes in a Domke F-803 satchel.
 
Snapped this last week while walking after dinner with my GF, certainly good enough to remember where we were, and what the light looked like, taken with Apple 5s, using Hydra.

This is a topic I'm considering at the moment as my wife and I are looking at holiday options. I prefer to travel light but, as both my wife and I are into photography and we have an F6 and D800, we can take a couple of rigs and share lenses.

That said, we both have Fuji X bodies (she has the X-T1 and I have the X-Pro1) and a selection of lenses. However, I prefer shooting film so, if she takes an X-T1, I might just take the F6 anyway.

If you have an M6 and an M8 which will take the same lenses, that's what I'd probably go for. If you aren't bothered about digital, just take the M6 or, if digital is your priority, just the M8.
 
Well, my travel kit to the supermarket two blocks away is a single camera in a 5xb Rugged Wear bag. It tends to be the M6. Or the FM3a. Or the X1. It leaves plenty of space for important things like wallet/glasses/medicines. That is about as far as we get these days. Occasionally in the Spring we might get a long weekend, but my kit is the same.

It also is small enough to do the job, take snaps, while not getting in the way of the primary purpose... Spending time with my loved one. Lately, I get it. She used to complain when I had a loaded bag but she just put up with the distraction thinking it made me happy.

Postcards are everywhere so I can just get excellent photos without the effort. Now, I take snaps like we did many years ago on vacation. An iPhone will do but I hate the experience. The cameras I mentioned above are easy enough to carry and I don't feel that I miss a thing. It's not like I am on assignment or hoping to have a great piece of art to hang on the wall. I can pretty much take a decent photograph no matter what camera I have with me. Good enough for me.
 
Keep it simple and light! I'm just back from a week holiday I had with me the M7 and the Bessa R because I wanted to try the "all film" idea. Low iso in one camera high iso in the other. But I deliberately always left one of the two cameras in the safe of the hotel, depending on the hour of the day.
In your case the M6+the XT1 are a wonderful combination...

If I were going on vacation, and selecting from the gear i have, I'd take my new digital Fuji xe2 with 16-50 zoom for snaps and colour. Film-wise, Id take my compact folding Plaubel Makina 67W and a small point and shoot like Olympus xa2, both with 400 speed B+W.
 
For our first trip to Europe, 36 years ago, we bought two Pentax K1000 bodies and a 40mm and an 85mm lens, swapping back and forth as needed. We took 20 rolls of Kodachrome 64 and shot it all in three weeks. It was the best travel kit I ever used. Those cameras and lenses are on their way back to me now from my daughter. If they work, I'll travel with them again.

I do pretty much the same. We're leaving Friday for two weeks, going to Stockholm, Amsterdam, and Dublin. I'm taking a IIIc for bw film with a 50 and a 35 lens. Taking an E-P5 for color snaps, with 14 and 17 lenses, possibly 25 too. The LTM lenses work on the m4/3 body, of course.

The only quandry for me is whether to take a small film cam for back-up. I usually take an XA and always come back with some nice photos with it, but I'm considering a Rollei 35s for the upcoming trip since.
 
Minolta 16II. Someone's trip to Europe in the 1960's. Found film in old Minolta camera. Thought of it when I saw Vic's image of Venus.

Certainly a small travel package, about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Maybe not the highest image quality though.

Reminds me of something I saw last week (not saying you're doing this). Was taking pictures along one of the old highways in the States. Ran across a couple who were doing somewhat the same on a big motorcycle. The husband is "driving" and the wife is on the back, with an iPad, holding it up in front of her face the whole time, taking pictures of everything they pass as they ride. Like she was watching the whole trip on her iPad, instead of experiencing it for herself. Funniest thing I've seen in a while.

I mentioned a small slave unit I take with me and thought a picture might help as they often turn up for sale but people have no idea what they are.

Here's one open for use with a Rowi gadget (also mentioned) and a film tub for scale. The flash folds back flat and takes one AA battery It's very useful indoors when travelling.

My choice now would be for a compact digital and one very portable MF. I'll have a my Super Ikonta III for when I have a little more time and want to do photography. Everything else would be digital
, something like a Leica x1 or a Ricoh gr. I regretted bringing too much equipment in the past.
 
It depends.

If I am on a family holiday, the missus and our parents want loads of photos of our kids, and they want them quick - so I bring something digital, more often than not a D3 + 24-70mm and a 50mm f/1.4.

Next time I go on a family holiday, I remember how heavy the D3 was, and bring my ZM, 35mm Summicron and a few rolls of film, promising the abovementioned missus and parents that I'll process and scan the film right away.

Time after that, my family sighs that just about all the photos from last time were B&W ones, so could I please bring a more up to date camera this time, thank you very much?

And so the cycle repeats... :)

When I go somewhere alone, I tend to bring the ZM, 35/50/90mm lenses and a load of film, mostly Tri-X but also some Provia and even Portra on occasion. It all fits nicely in a Think Tank Retrospective... Uh, something. The one that fits an M body and a few lenses, film and accessories.
