I don't want to bother you with my sad stories, so here is the gist: I have a Rolleiflex, a Leica M6, and a Sony a7. I use my two crons (35 and 50) on both Leica and Sony. The Rollei needs a CLA (stiff dials), and its focus is slightly off. Last month while on my honeymoon in Italy, Leica's shutter speed dial got completely stuck. It has voluntarily unblocked since, but now the shutter speed dial spins with no stopper between the speeds. Tonight I was out and it was cold and the a7 stopped working! Both the LCD and the EVF are black and the shutter does not actuate...
So, I am principally left with no camera for this weekend, that I am planning to spend in a cottage!
Now the main question: Do you know if I can use the Leica without damaging it? I can perfectly change the shutter speeds, but the dial is completely loose and the wall between the speeds has disappeared. Do you think something has broken inside the shutter, or has something been dislodged from its place? Any experience with such an issue?

Looks like dead battery to me.
Send the rest of your cameras for repair. What is the point to keep cameras in not working order for so long time?
If Sony is still dead on next morning with freshly charged battery, use your phone to take pictures at the cottage.
Pictures are better comparing no pictures.

Ko. Fe. : I have several batteries, and the card reader works perfectly, but nothing else functions. You know, sometimes we can't afford two CLAs and a new expensive camera at the same time!

Perhaps it is fate hinting you should spend more time cementing your new relationship than taking pictures.

Haha guys, you are all right! And not everything is going wrong... Just all the cameras have decided to stop working in one way of the other. Still wondering if I can use the m6 without damaging it even more...

as long as the speeds work, keep shooting the M6 full manual.
have the 'stepless' dial fixed after return. and enjoy. I remember a very old M3 also had a 'stepless' dial, never an issue, and was great to shoot with.

Thanks Maitani. Kinda needed to hear that! I did take the dial off, but couldn't observe anything that was readily fixable. I plan to send the camera off for a CLA with both lenses very soon, but I need it to work this weekend: nothing beats snowy quebec landscapes on Ektar...

Reviving an old thread. This is exactly what happened to my M3. Read the following post to learn more: http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-forum/00e8lm
I hope your CLA took care of things.
