Yes, I agree, I am surprised as well.

Given that the forum, while broad in scope, does focus on classic rangefinders, perhaps this indicates that you Europeans are a bit less shallow and consumerist compared to North Americans (and especially the ones sandwiched between Canada and Mexico)

Randy

Nah. We are just poorer.

I'd say I'm from London as I've spent more time here than anywhere else. I moved to Greenwich, South East London earlier this year and for a North Londoner that's like moving to another continent (and so far, it's one that I like).

So Dirk, you hail from San Fran area, does 'we are just poorer' refer to Americans, then? Or are you an ex-pat? Most Europeans of my acquaintance see Americans as having the higher disposable income - while recognizing that money does not buy happiness.

I would like to answer this, seemingly innocent, question with a translated quote of Floor Wibaut, who became alderman in Amsterdam, exactly 100 years ago.
This quote was used by Mr Eberhard van der Laan, the current major of Amsterdam in the obituary remembering the victims of flight MH17, a week ago.

""
There is only one country: the earth.
There is only one race: the human race.
There is only one religion: love
""

btw; I was born and raised in the Netherlands where I still live, so I voted: Europe

I sincerely hope this quote wil come true in my lifetime

I really love that quote FranZ. I just stopped listening to horrible war reports on the radio and I do whish that could be a reality.

A native of New York City, with a childhood spent in the part of Long Island which is part of NYC. Now living about 40 miles north in Upstate New York ................. with my eyes always straining to see the ocean.

A love of history, most 'specially WW2 history, has given me great admiration for other nations, among them the UK, Holland, Australia & New Zealand .......... among others.

This very European specificity is fascinating to me, how differently people feel about their identity in areas that aren't very big geographically, or distant from one another

Born in Florence, Italy. 2 engineering degrees, one from the University of Florence, one from the University of Minnesota. Lived in the USA since 1970, moved here permantly in 1977. I am both European and American. Europe breast fed me, America fed me red meat!

Cheers,
Giorgio

What surprises me is the low number of Asian RFFrs. C'mon you guys, Asia includes Japan (camera country in optima forma), China (the new collectors) and Hong Kong (several (in?)famous Leica shops there), Thailand (with its photographer King), to name a few.
