Hi fellow forum members,
for the past weeks I have been watching ebay, looking for Canon RF camera's and lenses, and I noticed that there are quite a lot of camera bodies for sale but much fewer lenses. I would expect that, in the past Canon would have sold maybe 2 lenses for every body, or thereabout, but on ebay the ratio is more like 1 to 10. Where have all the lenses gone?

I'm pretty sure they're all off to China, and will be for a long time to come.

I've been following Canon RF lens market for a while now and I can concur that the supply has dried up for some reason. I've no idea what is behind it - or am I just fantasizing.
I only have fourteen of them, can't blame me.

I'm good for six. We've now accounted for 49 of them.

Yeah, I got one too.
Great fun, but it still is weird, so few lenses on sale. Earlier this week I launched a thread on the lack of M-Hexanons on eBay. It obviously does not limit itself to Canon lenses. I have been looking for 50/1.5 Summarits in eBay and there appear to be fewer Summarits around these days as well.

Hi Johan,
Must be the new Leica M8/9 and M-lens prices, same thing with C-lenses on micro 4/3 cameras.
Regards,
Robert

Well I can account for 15 more. No duplication except for two versions of the 50/1.2 (one is for parts only) and 50/1.8 in Serenar and Canon labels.

well either that or the Chinese really are entering the game. If it's an M8/M9 related sales peak, it will come down again, if not, it's the Chinese that did it.
I'll be selling my M-Hex 50/1.2 in the next 24 hours and its probably a stupid move given prices in the long run, but I need the cash now, not in three years.
Time will tell I guess...

Actually everyone only needs one Canon RF lens, the 35/1.5 which I have and will never part with. The rest can go to China.

Add two in Maryland.
I can account for 3 more in the parts bin: a 50/1.2, 50/2.8, and 50/1.5. The 50/1.2 went to make a working 50/1.2, the 50/2.8 has etched glass, and the 50/1.5 is focus mount only.
