Where oh where is Stephanie B ?

I'm around, but my time is soon going to become even more spare. I'm learning how to drive in earnest now and as soon as I get my license I have to go on what I'm calling The Great Job Hunt. Then I'll most likely spirit myself away to Minnesota for a time to work in the restaurant of a CIA grad, then actually head to CIA. At the moment my scanner is gone (I haven't gotten a new one yet) and I have five rolls from the Nikon SLR to develop. I'm also needing a battery for my Canonet and I still haven't put batteries in the nice Minolta P&S I picked up on Ebay for $5. It's 2 AM and I have Thanksgiving dinner to cook tomorrow (I'm doing the BIRD, for the love of God), but I can't sleep so I'm drinking Coke and planning to just be up for 30 or so hours. Done it before...will do it again. It's why I think I can make it in the restaurant business. I made cranberry-orange sauce today as well as a nice amount of homemade stock for the stuffing tomorrow.

In other words, I have plans and not so much time to be online. Just know that I'm here and, if you really want to catch up with me, check http://mentalexperimental.org or http://glasswings.org/foodie for updates on what I'm doing.

Too much to do, not enough time to do it. I'm happy, though, for the time being.

Hey, I am glad this thread has lasted the 48hours or so that it has, and it is good to hear from Stephanie. Sounds like you are getting places Steph, keep it up.

I'm getting there slowly.

I'm counting down the months until I get my new (to me) camera. My Nikon is getting a workout in the mean time. You guys will see some Thanksgiving photos next.

That will just make it so much more satisfying when you are there. And don't be surprised if some day you sit down, trying to think of what is next, and realize that in fact you have already arrived.

Not sure about invading England.....we're quite good at preventing that as I believe the last 940 years has shown :D

"You want me to tell you something? As far as I'm concerned the whole British race is practically finished. If it hadn't been for lend-lease. If we hadn't have kept your whole country afloat by giving you billions that you never even said "Thank you" for, the whole phony outfit would be sunk right under the Atlantic years ago."

Large quantities of goods were in Britain or in transit when Washington suddenly and unexpectedly terminated Lend-Lease on 2 September 1945. These were sold to Britain for about 10 cents on the dollar with payment to be stretched out for 50 years at 2% interest. [3] Debate in the Commons on 28 February 2002 shows that Britain expected to complete its repayment of its monetary debt to the USA on 31 December 2006, over 61 years from the conclusion of World War II:

When I picture that scene, with Terry Thomas and Milton Berle, I laugh so hard it brings tears to my eyes. Had to be the funniest movie ever made. Stu

ot: when I was about 6, my family and I went to a Carl's Jr. in Hollywood. We sat down and my cousin couldn't stop laughing. I turned around and I didn't see what was so funny. My mom (later) said that the man on the table behind me was Milton Berle. Back then, of course, I had no clue. (He stopped making faces when I turned around, it turns out)

He was one of the funniest men I've seen on the silver or TV screen.

Heh! The title of that movie is more appropriate today than ever!

(The US had to keep the UK afloat, otherwise it would not have been able to use it as an East-atlantic airbase for 60 years.;) )

We pay the last of our WWII loans on 31st December - about $86million.

However we still owe you guys for WWI, which adjusted for inflation is noew equal to $40billion! = will you take a check?

The CIA's California campus is beautiful. It has an old world feel, and really nice natural light. Great for photos!
