Hi,

I have MINT condition Rolleiflex 2.8F Type II, like new and I want to trade it for some leica lens. Rolleiflex is so nice that I do not want to use it. Sure that it worth more to some camera collector. Now I try to find some store in EU that will trade Rolleiflex for Leica lens.

Any suggestion?

I think that trade is more likely than sale, but sale is also an option.

Thanks

It is not a god idea to try a trade at a store - they will want to make money twice out of you, by bidding low on the Rollei, and selling high your lens.
Ever since human kind has invented money and a free market, it is best to seek the exchange of goods against the best offer. I suggest you think about it this way. A good starting point for making price evaluation is the bay, but you can also look here:

thanks ...I now what are you talking mfogiel but I think that is hard to sell 2000$ mint rolleiflex. I think that is easier to trade.. :/

Vic I already did that 🙂

Perhaps it's easier (although I doubt that...),but you will loose money in that proces-mfogiel explained it very clear.

I think you are wrong, but it is your camera, so you can make your experience. It will be easier to do whatever you want to do in a bigger market than Croatia.

This is true 🙂 It is hard to sell analog equip. here. No lot of cash money here. 🙂

Ah! Goran, I didn't notice it was you. I can vouch for Goran as a good trading partner. I did a trade with him, and it was perfect!

The problem with a store trade-in has been mentioned by Marek, but I'll add that a person-to-person trade also has a problem... you must find someone who has what you want and wants what you have.

^agree.

Trade has to be face to face and local.
I wouldn't trust making a remote trade with some unless there's a secure 3rd party involved or the person is reputable.

The safest bet would be to sell your camera, then buy the lens you want afterwards.

I lucked out when someone with an M9 was looking to downsize to an X-Pro1 and fortunately I was looking to sell my Fuji gears for an M9.

Just be aware that a dealer will need to factor in VAT on top of any profit margin in the EU, as this is typically around 20% that is less he will offer you.

Your best bet is to advertise it on forums such as Here, APUG, Fadu etc as you will be offering it to people who will be looking for that sort of item. At the same time you could also place a wanted ad for the lenses you wish to replace it with.

Good luck with your sale, if I had the money I would have had it off you.

The trade I did with Goran was very far from local or face to face. He's in Zagreb and I'm in the SF Bay Area in California. It was about $1000 on each side. Went off like clockwork.
