Five Goats Hunter
My first FSU camera, a FED 2d, arrived from alex-photo today!!!
And just in time, as we're leaving for Ohio on Wednesday. I should have enough time to run a test roll before we leave.
It came in a shoebox!!! Where, I say, where is my yak hair string?! There wasn't a strand to be found! I'm sorely disappointed. I may just have to order another body now.
Alex said this camera was in excellent conditon and he wasn't lying! It looks like it's barely been used!! There's a few scuffs, but nothing at all to indicate it's even been taken out of the case more than a few times. The Industar-26M's movement is nice and smooth and it appears to be just as well kept as the camera body. Someone took care of this baby and I thank them.
I see what everyone says about the FED's having a dim viewfinder. This one's is a slight shade of blue-green. May have to follow Laika's cleaning instructions once we get back from Ohio.
The never-ready, however STINKS!!!!!! You could knock a bear over at ten paces with one whiff of that thing! I've got some dryer sheets inside it right now. Maybe that will take care of it. If not, I'll have to find a new case for it.
Mechanically, the camera seems to be in good working order. I had a panicky moment where I thought I'd fouled up the shutter mechanism, but it turned out I'd forgotten to lift up the dial before setting the speeds. Can someone tell me the trick for getting it into Bulb? i can't seem to figure it out.
Anyway, that's enough gushing for one night. I need to go to bed anyway.

Hey, ya did good there Cap. Very nice FED. We'll expect some special pics of Ohio on your return.
I think the Fed 2 is a pretty camera.
How big is it, I imagine it is tiny.

How do you set the film speed on this thing? I can't seem to figure it out.

I don't set the film speed?? At all?!? How does that work? How does the camera know if I'm using 100 or 400 speed film?

Lenscap does it everytime for me. About 50% of all my rolls have at leat one frame unexposed (in the middle of the roll).

Yep. Or think that your camera has gone wonky because the RF patch disappears whenever you are about to trip the shutter - only to find out that you're covering the RF opening with your finger. Every time.
Congrats on the camera! Hope you get some great shots with it!

Took my first roll tonight! Man, that Industar-26M is SHARP!!! My first experience with LTM lenses and I have to say, I'm impressed! Can't wait to get a Jupiter 8 now!
Is setting the shutter speed on the 2d as big a pain in the butt for everyone else as it is for me? That dial never wants to go back into place after I lift it up. Very annoying.
Here's a couple of pics. I'll post a couple more in my gallery.

Oh, it's going to get that!
