This is a really lazy arsed question isn't it? Many threads in this and other forums are about not being able to get an M9, yet Leica are behind in fulfilling orders, still, nine months after introduction. So you really think that no threads about the M9 mean they aren't selling any?
You might want to consider that on the whole the people who have nothing to complain about don't post anything much, maybe only to counter misinformation and garbage, or occasionally applaud the camera. While on the other hand people who feel insecure and who have problems post far more by way of needing comfort and technical problem solving.

Vey good of you to give us your psychological assessment of people using the forum.
By the way, you forgot to include people who have real world sensible questions and those who are just plain generous with their knowledge and wisdom on the subject. Oh and don't forget those who just want to be sociable with people who have a similar interest.

As a tool for regular use with family, friends, travel and general knocking about, the M9 met or exceeded all expectations, retiring the dslr. Not too much to hash out there, I love it.
As an instrument for artistic expression - it is more capable than I. Not surprising, but the M9 wasn't a silver bullet, and I don't suddenly have amazing images for the gallery. 🙁 It has altered the learning curve (some good and some bad).
What discussion are you looking for regarding the M9? Are you considering purchasing one?

Well there was a big hoo hah when it came out and it just seems to have died leaving mostly discussion about the M8. I was just curious why it seems to have gone quiet on the M9 on this forum at least.
Yes I want one but there are considerations to be made..
When my new darkroom is built I will validate that the quality I get from 135 film is good enough and if it is, then an M9 is a definite. If it isn't then a Mamiya 7II is on the cards instead.
I have a sneaky feeling I may be getting an M9 and to hell with it.

B) They are down at the local country club knocking back highballs and don't converse with the likes of the riff raff on RFF.

Every M9 that has been produced by Leica has been sold and there is a backlog of people waiting for it.
Serious photographers have bought it, and it is unique camera well suited for rangefinder style photography.
As photographers that are waiting for their cameras to come in, and photographers that currently own them build up a portfolio of M9 pictures, you will be seeing more work made by M9's.
I certainly expect to see M9 images coming my way. And that there will be an M9 in my future.

I wonder if that will allow them to increase production, which I've heard is between 50 and 100 M9 bodies a day.

I am sure there is some truth in this, its just that there seemed to be a lot more M8 images posted around the M8 launch than there were M9 images around the M9 launch. Also the overall standard of M9 image posts to date is not super impressive in my opinion. Not scientific I know, and it may just be that i am now not as interested in the M9 as I was in the M8.

I started an M9 image thread here back in September 2009. I didn't see much response. Luf is awash with M9 owners - I've still got to figure out why they don't appear on this forum. It may be that many are not hard-core rangefinder users and are more easily drawn to a dedicated brand forum.

The fact remains there are not that many M9 images posted here and there have always been plenty of M8 shots. Of the M9 images that are posted here there is not much which really impresses. Could it be there is an inverse relationship between disposable income and photographic ablity? But then again, Im not that good a photographer and i dont have much cash either😀!

I tried posting a little there, when I got my 1st Leica. But, to me, the general attitude is quite stuffy (being polite 😉). you know, uppity.
Back to the topic
I have seen some great images and discussions here and there. I wander if even after, what, 5 years or so of a DRF Leica, there are is still more interest in Film Leica and such?
