I have Summaron 35/2.8 and Canon 35/1.8. I like both of them a lot. Sold the CV 35/2.5.
Both price and my preference for wider or 50mm are reasons why I never went for a cron/lux 35 (and probably would not or a while).
Based on all what I have seen I would go for a 35 lux asph as I have no modern/asph leica lenses in any focal length.

I have the Konica 35mm f2 M-Hexanon but I find myself very tempted by the Zeiss 35mm f2.8 C Biogon.

I stuck the Color Skopar 35mm f/2.5 on my M9 about three months ago. I think it's stuck, I just can't seem to take it off the camera anymore. It's that good, and tiny/light as well.

And my 35mm Summilux ASPH FLE is stuck on my M9. I just can't seem to take it off the camera. In fact, I think they came out of Leica as a fix focal length camera. 😀

Always went for the Summicrons (have all types by now), finding:
the pre asph Summilux too soft - (must admit it is attractive since it is so tiny);
the asph Summilux is really a great lens but too heavy -;
the Nokton too heavy and I don't like its rendering....
never tried the Biogon 35 (I have the 25mm though which is a perfect lens, but read that the other Biogons are not comparable resolution wise)

35/2.8 C-Biogon is a great lens for creamy bokeh, top sharpness, flare resistance, almost no distortion, size, etc., if one can live with f2.8 and warmer colors compared to Leicas.

Could be. I'll probably have to buy another M9 so I can use the Nokton 50/1.5 again ... but I'm afraid the same thing is gonna happen again. This gets a little pricey, ya know? ;-)

Hi, in the past years iv´e owned a few 35mm and tested extensively others....
35 biogon 2 and 2.8, summarit 35, summaron 3.5 ltm, 3.5 M, 2.8 dual mount, j-12, summicron 1, 3 and 4 (current)....lux 1....canon 1.8...elmar 3.5!!!!
Have to admit the crons are way better but i was deeply impressed by the elmar 3.5 also....
The biogons althou are very reputed are very good but cannot challenge the crons...
...above all i regret selling the cron v3....i find it has more character than the king of bokeh wich i currently use...have to say the v3 handles better flare and has better colour.
The king of bokeh has no distortion but it has a clear focus shift, it´s also optimized for f2....so when you want to get closer and use 2.8 down focus goes behind the subject!!!!!

Three 35mm lens, 35 LUX, 35 Cron, and a 3.5 Summaron. The one that has gotten the most use has been the 35 Cron as of late. If I had to decide on only having a single 35mm it would be the one I would keep, at the moment. I do love the photographs created when using the cron along with the size and weight.
I do need to go shoot a couple of rolls of film with the Summaron with the MP. It is a tiny lens and love it as well. It is nice to have decisions.

1. Summicron first version goggled.
2. Same without goggles.
The Cron has high resolution and medium contrast. It is my lens of choice.
The LTM lenses are as follows:
1. Summaron 35/3.5 ... hardly ever used. Small and light. Good for B&W.
2. Canon 35/2.8 ... great little chrme lens. Sharp and medium-low contrast.
3. Canon 35/1.8... special lens for situations where flaring lights are acceptable.
SLR lenses that fit M cameras via adapters:

i like the voigtlander 35 f2.5 color skopar
it's TINY! it's sharp, it has a focusing knob/tab thing on it, a very short focus throw. never had any flare problems, it comes with a small hood to protect it from damage and flare, and the build quality is great. lastly the price is cheap.

I've been thinking about buying this lens due to its small size. I've found that I'd rather have a smaller, slower lens than a big, fast lens. I rarely shoot at anything faster than f/2.
I'm also looking at the "C" version because it comes in silver and will fit my MP nicely, I think. The "C" version seems to be larger, but it's still a small lens. Are the optics the same? I wonder...

I used a Nokton Classic for a while but got a pre-asph Summilux a few weeks back. I'm totally in love - it's small, fast and certainly sharp enough for me at 1.4. Prone to flare sometimes, but the Nokton's distortion was more disturbing in my eyes.

I was looking for a 35/2.0 Summicron lens for quite some time now to accompany 35/1.4 Summilux pre-ASPH (E39 filter and closer focusing) but prices for a vs3 or vs2 are over the roof. Recently, I remembered my first RF lens, the Color-Skopar 35/2.5 P II and finally decided to buy it again. From my experience it has identical ergonomics as my Summilux but added closer focus ability and takes E39 filters. All this with optical performance equal to an older Summicron lens for a fraction of the price. 🙂

Started out with a late Canon 35 2.0, sold it after I got a V1 Summicron. Wish I could have kept both, now I also have a couple of Jupiter 12's that I play with and one is really nice. You never know with the Russian stuff.

I've got a number of the lenses on the list, but I am not sure which I'd grab if the house were on fire and I could only take one. You couldn't go wrong with one of the Summicrons, though. They are just awesome all-rounders. Oddly they get the nod over the Biogons, not because the Biogons aren't great lenses but because any lens that has been functioning well as long as the Summicrons is built robustly enough for my needs.
