I have test-shot with a friend's Voigtlander Nokton 35mm Classic 35mm f/1,4 Classic II VM MC, on my M10. I was very favorably impressed. This was in early 2023. In May or June 2023, I test-shot a demonstrator Summilux-M 35mm f/1,4 ASPH FLE, to compare it with my Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1,4 ZM, as well as with a pre-owned, 1960's-vintage Version II Summilux-M 35mm f/1,4, that was available for sale. My conclusion was that I really did like my friend's Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1,4 Classic II VM MC lens!
If "character" includes interesting flare, the SC (Single-Coated) version of this Nokton Classic would be a candidate. MC = Multi-Coated. Voigtlander lenses with the "MC" designation have VERY effective flare-reducing coatings.
This Nokton's design was inspired by the original, classic 1960s Leica Summilux-M 35mm lens.
I did purchase a Re-Edition Steel Rim Summilux, in July 2023, knowing that it produces rainbow flare in some conditions. This was a creative choice, made at a moment in time when I could afford to finally spend close to $4K US on a Leica lens. This interrupted my plans to acquire to acquire a Nokton Classic II VM MC. (I am keeping my Zeiss Distagon, which is very Flare-resistant, but, a notably large lens.) I retain a very high opinion of the Nokton 35mm f/1,4 Classic II.
