Which camera would you like that is not available?

Ok, so, this thread is about that camera that does not exist right now. You can make it up from scratch, tweak a camera you love, bring back an extinct (really extinct, meaning none available at any price) or invent a new model of an existing camera. Let's keep it real though... no "I want a 1000MP camera with a 4mm to 20000mm F0.75 lens that fits in my pocket" type answers. Also, if the thread offends you, please just go to another thread.

I'll go first and I'll keep it simple...

I would like a Ricoh GR style camera with a 40mm F2.8 lens, the 63mp sensor from the Sony A7R IV and a pop-up EVF like the Sony RX1 MKII has. Make it as small and light as it can be based on the aforementioned.

What are you thinking?

Hm... a "dream camera", huh?

I think I'd go for a Leica IIIg that's still bottom-loading, still has the same overall size and shape, still has the separate RF/VF... but with lever wind, 35mm and 50mm framelines in the viewfinder, and M-mount to open up more lens options.

I would be very, very happy with that. Is it ever going to appear? Not a chance. But a man can dream.

Enough of dust on the sensor and primitive snap from 2004 already 🙂 .

A full frame digital Zeiss Ikon ZM camera made by Cosina. I’m not overly greedy, black or silver will be fine. However, I’d like the minimum ISO to be 50, maximum ISO I’m not too concerned about. It should come in a special box with the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 lens included. This special set should be priced at around $4000.00 dollars or less so that I could afford it.

A film SLR with the following features: (1) integrated motor drive; (2) bright finder ala the Nikon F3/F4; (3) M42 mount; (4) full autoexposure with all M42 lenses like the Chinon CE system (no metering switches, blah blah); and (5) top shutter speed of at least 1/4000. There was a Leica rumor about a year or more ago about a M-body with an electrinic VF'er, but what confuses me is that Joe also wants a rangefinder.

Perhaps Joe's idea is for having both in one VF'er like you are suggesting.

I'd love a Leica M2, M4 or M-A with exposure times up to 1/4000sec. Because I like to shoot wide open, particularly old lenses, and I'd rather not have to bother with ND filters.

Also, I'd love a reliable, affordable and pocketable compact camera, like a Konica Big Mini or an Olympus Mju, but with a fast 50mm lens. They all seem to feature 28 to 40mm lenses.

No impossible cameras with impossible specs that defy the laws of physics, yet you want a GR with a FF 63MP sensor and a 2.8 lens, fitting in an EVF?? Methinks that's a bit of a stretch! I'd love a 40mm GR, though. Any way I could get it.

But even more, I'd like a new Cosina Voigtlander digital Bessa rangefinder. I'd even consider it up to around$1500-1800 for the body, but that's the most I'd be able to swing. I think it's a realistic idea, I wish they'd make it!

+1 for the Digital Rolleiflex, but otherwise the rebirth of Contax - I'd love to use my N glass on something new, but would happily queue up for a Contax G Digital!
