What's next for you?

I would like a Fuji X 18mm f2 pancake Mark II.

My X Pro2 agrees.
He (yes, he's a "he") likes our 16mm 1.4 but says he would enjoy the smaller pancake form from time to time.
He also likes our 27mm 2.8 pancake but would like something wider now and then. He is rather picky.

Roughly (at least) the same physical form as the original 18/f2 but with WR and better IQ.
Whether such a little jewel will ever materialize ...I dunno.

Whoa. My cameras haven't started talking to me... yet. But when they do, I'll be sure to ask which pronouns they prefer. I would hate to be insensitive about that, you know.
 
Next? I dunno, maybe expose some paper in 4X5. Try a little astrophotography with a home made rig. Check the obit's to make sure I'm not in there. You know, just basic stuff.
 
Man, I have really got the digital rangefinder bug. I have 35mm and 50mm M mount lenses already. A Bessa R2 that I can sell because even if I use it, it is not serious for me. $3000 is just a lot for me. M240 or Pixii are both fine but I do not want to deal with Pixii direct and their shipping nightmares. An M240 is kind of a fatty. I have the $, but for some reason I just cannot get excited about spending it. Everything else is old and problematic.
 
I'm pulling for PIxii 'cause it'd be great to have some new blood in the camera world, but the idea of a crop sensor is a deal breaker for me due to how it would change the familiar feel of all my lenses.

Granted, the M240 is a bit bigger than the M10 and M11. But to be fair, my absolute favorite cameras are all way bigger, and their size never bothered me -- thinking Hasselblad and even the diminutive Super Wide C, which, if film were as plentiful as in the old days and I had to pick only one camera to have, would be that one.

I saw a recent post by David Farkis where he did a walk about town with the M11. Gotta say those images have some of the most natural and beautiful color rendition I've seen from any camera. What is particularly surprising is how it handles the artificial lights in the night street shots. Seems to have much less weird color casts than I would expect to see using my camera. And the high ISO shots of the musicians indoors would not have been possible with my M240 without a lot of grain.

I have no affiliation with Farkis or Leica other than owning and using some Leica gear for years.

I'm so used to APSC as a Fuji user, that it is not big deal at all. Actually, my little 35mm color skopar would be a tiny 50mm and that's perfect for me. I just wish I could buy it in a store, not only through the mail which seems like a major headache based on some guys that bought it here.

It's a small difference, but a classic M is perfect in size.

Well, $9000 is just not something I'm going to do. Especially right now when things in the two cities that I photograph are getting more violent. I'm sure it is great though.

Yep, I'll be holding on to my M240 a while longer, at least until the M11's are common on the used market. I just mentioned the M11 because it struck me as having a significant increase in image quality from previous models. But that's based on a single set of photos, so I could be mistaken.

I understand, I wish I could splurge on even the first M10, but even $5000 is too much. It isn't that I can't pay, it is that I don't want to if that makes sense.

Perfect sense. I'm shooting 50mm a lot now and would love an M3. I could swing it, but it's a $2K extravagance that doesn't make a lot of sense.

That said, if I was hankering to transition to the M as my main system, and I could get close selling current gear, I'd stretch for an M10.

That is the problem, I have three camera types that I would grab before the Leica M. If the M was the main camera, I would already have a nice M10. Looking at my silly posts makes me realize it is gas.

Overall thinner than the XPro3 but the average is probably thicker. And that thicker body of the M240 gives a large battery that is good for many many shots.

I did an earlier post in this thread, but I've been thinking a lot about this since then. So I've returned for a second time.

Okay. I will be 75 in December. I look at my gear stash and I see too many I no longer use.

I've finally come to the conclusion (for myself anyway) that it's cathartic to downsize and rebuild more sensibly.

I have Nikon digitals and film cameras, Contax Gs, Rolleis, a few German folders and other miscellaneous brands.

Oh, and Fuji. Which I bought into this year and am enjoying now, but this means I no longer use almost all of my accumulated hoard of older cameras.

Why do I hang on to all this gear?? Likely I will never satisfactorily answer this question to myself.

It's maybe time for me to downsize - and "download" (not as in computer software!!)

Ozmoose, after I retired I did a major purge of my gear. I sold all my film cameras and the associated lenses, all my Sigma cameras and the associated lenses (that was a lot of stuff); I sold it all! And, I didn’t stop there, I also sold some valuable watches and a bunch of gold jewelry. All gone! With the exception of maybe two lenses I have no regrets, none whatsoever.

I have bought a few things since then but nowhere near the amount of stuff that I sold.

I feel fine and life is good.

A box camera.

I lent a nice one to a friend years ago, and it disappeared. He still has it, but moved, and isn't sure where exactly it is now. It was a particularly good box camera with zone focus and half-frame capabilities, and now I'm planning on doing a project that involves contact prints, so I sought out a replacement of the same type. Bid on ebay, and... the seller sent me a different camera than I bid on (I mean box cameras all look just about the same, so can't blame them too much).

Smart move! There's wonderful peace of mind in knowing that your equipment is in top-notch working order. A CLA is often a better investment than another "mint" trinket from bay that comes with a whole new assortment of problems and anxiety.
Now, if I would just follow my own advice...
 
Ideally my M3 back from CLA, been three years next month. Not chasing the shop doing the work a struggling for funds right now. Then maybe sell everything I have for a Q2. Love every image from that camera.
