Which focal lengths do you NOT have (35mm RF ONLY)

I still don't have the 105/135mm that is the only focal length mentioned that I didn't have. And I'm unlikely to fill that gap, as this is getting pretty long for an RF camera, and longer than I generally have call for even on SLR.

It's useful for me to rotate through the lenses available to help push me to see a little differently.

24/ 35 is the best combo. SLR kits are that way for me. When I started, Leica had no 24 so I used 21/28/35. The Mandler no longer works well on M9 AND I replaced it with 28 2.8 ASPH. Small tight lens. The 24 is too big and requires a finder.

If I had no other wides other than the 35, I would have the 24.

mainly/only a 35 priority with some 50 & when i use the 50 i always love it-go figure… nothing else- i would of also had a zoom of not having- which i do not…

my only wide angle option right now is the converted 28mm 3.5 pancake from ms optical. it uses the lens out of the fujifilm super mini. i would like to go to 21mm though as its easy to get the feel of the angle of view (90 degrees) from the camera.

It is very difficult for me to get the true view of wide angles beyond a 28mm with a separate finder. I prefer to use wides on an SLR so I know what I am shooting. An external viewfinder only shows me the framing not the feel.

Other way round surely, I use either a CV 21/25 or Leica 21/28 external finder and find they do a really good job of conveying the enormous depth in wide angle views. Framing though is always a bit hit and miss in various ways.

Back OT I must be the odd man out as I don't have a 35. Would like to get one though at some point.

I've 21mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm & 90mm lenses. The only focal length I'm interested in is 28mm. That's coz my M6 And CLE both have 28mm frame lines, thus eliminating that need for an external viewfinder. I'm considering the CV Ultron 28/2 or the Zeiss 28/2.8. Would really love having a 28mm Summicron or Elmarit but those are way out of my budget right now 🙁

I'm also looking for a 28
but if Elmarit, much better.

It's been a year since I started this thread, and of the 4 FL's that I didn't have then, there are 3 that I still do not own (15-21-40). I acquired a 28mm (M-Hex) a few weeks ago.

Hi Luis - I don't have an M8, so I can't really comment on how it would perform on an M8. I use it on a Sony A7R and a Zeiss ZI (for B&W), and on those bodies, the M-Hexanon has excellent almost even sharpness from center to the edges, beautiful color (although not he head-turning color of Ziess lenses) and just a slight light fall off on the A7R (even less so on the ZI). Although I am a big fan of Zeiss lenses, when it comes to a 28mm lens, I prefer the Hex to the ZM 28mm. This one's a keeper.

For RF, I have never felt a need for longer than 90 or wider than 28.
I never have gotten along with the 35. Usually too short or not wide enough.
If you demanded "Pick one!" I'd pick a 50.
Add a 28 if I get to pick two.

The only one I'm looking for in addition to those is one of the faster 75mm.

I have the the 40mm rokkor in M mount.
In LTM I have the 50mm Color Skopar, Canon 1.2/50mm, and Yashinon 50mm f1.8.

That's it.... I'm done experimenting with other FL's and lenses for interchangeable lens RF cameras.
Still in love with Fixed lens/ leaf shutter cameras where the Fuji GF670 and Hexar AF are my main squeezes. 😀

From my own experience and some general observation... for those whose primary lens is a 35mm, it seems like their preferred WA is 24/25mm, while for those whose primary lens is 50mm, the WA of choice is 28mm.

I used to shoot a lot with the 35mm and preferred the 25mm for WA; when I started to gravitate to the 50mm, I started to find the 35mm useless and started to shoot quite a bit with the 28mm for WA, and sometimes, even as my primary lens.
