which FSU rangefinder for a first buy?

Dont buy another camera until you've used that one for a few months. I made that mistake when bought the Kiev right after the Zorki. I was happy using the Zorki and so the Kiev became "for special occasions'. Then again, I got some of my favourite photo's with it from those occasions so it's not all bad.

Be sure you're getting itchy feet before getting a different FSU cam, or else before you know it you'll have a whole collection that hardly gets used!

One thing I dislike about Zorkis is that it's noisy. The noise , when you press the shutter, makes the sound as if the curtains are cutting something inside.

If I ever had a small pet, like a budgie or a mouse, and it was in a bad way.. I'd skip the vet fee to have it put to sleep and just use the zorki shutter :D </sick joke>

I would recommend a Fed 2 as well but I have never used any other FSU camera. Viewfinder is a little on the dark side but if you get a good one .... maybe from someone on this site or Oleg at OK cameras

I use a Weston Master 4 handheld light meter which also has an invercone.

Handle them first if you can or just get one of each :)

VC's mount on most RF's I thought. It's all about the clearing around the accessory shoe

Like a sort of high-pitched "zzzzzzp" sound? If so I can probably tell you the cause...

I'll second the votes for Kiev 4, Zorki 4/4K or FED 2 by the way, depending on the "feel" you want. All competent cameras.
