Which holders for 120 film with Epson V700?

Hello..I am in the UK and looking for film negative holders for my Epson V700, and also wondering if it would be a benefit to use glass holders within the film holders for scanning 120 negatives. I read that this is important for 35mm negs but I cannot find info for 120 negs on the web.

Better Scanning makes great accessory holders. I don't know about availability in the UK, however.

Also Lomo has a product called Digital Liza which looks interesting.

I had a local framing shop cut 2 pieces of non-reflective glass for the stock V700 120 Epson holder. Seems to work as well as the Better Scanning holder w/ANR glass that I used with my V500. And it was waaay less $$ ($2, U.S.). Just my experience.

Try the holders that came with the scanner first. If your film is reasonably flat then they can do a pretty good job.

Also Lomo has a product called Digital Liza which looks interesting.

This requires the 8x10 film area guide and doesn't hold film flat. It's no better than the Epson holders and is less convenient to use.

I too used non-reflective glass from a picture framers and it worked just fine. I also use the Better Scanning holder for 120, which is a big improvement over the Epson holders.

As it happens, I've just bought a Minolta Multi-Pro film scanner which will probably replace all my Epson kit now.

The Lomography Digital FilmIZA holders work better than the Epson holders as well. Got them for a present, tried them, and was pleasantly surprised.

Honestly, I don't bother with film holders on my Epson 4990.
I just lay the negatives flat on the glass, emulsion side down,
and weight the negative with coins if it does not lie flat on
the glass. (You have to flip the scan in PS afterward or else
the image will be backward.) Try it and see if it works for you
before spending money on holders.
