Which Leica Bag should I get?????

I want a genuine Leica bag that looks cool, and is clean. It should hold the camera (Leica M6), one extra roll of film. I wanted it to be compact also. Let me know what your suggestions are for a modern, compact bag.....thanks.

Yes, it's not "Leica" but you also won't draw attention to yourself like you would with a Leica bag 😉

I have an old hard case, holds an M with lens, another lens in the bottom and a few rolls of film or perhaps a 3rd lens. If you like the idea of hard cases, it's perfect. It did not cost me a lot years back, still have the box if you're interested PM me. I used black sharpie to cover the red dot.

Just curious, why not "plain jane"? it's a bag, it's supposed to be roomy, comfortable, and as plain jane as it can get. To not draw unwanted attention.

This isnt a profession, so each time I use my Leica it will be a semi-big deal and I want to just have a cool looking bag that will protect and be nice to look at. Im sure there is a German company that makes really high quality bags that would very nice to look at, and own....any ideas? Different strokes for different folks.....

I think the only real choice for a bag to carry along a Leica are the domke bags. I've seen people try to stuff DSLR's in their smaller varietys. And they were not meant to hold that sort of camera. But my Leica's fit in smoothly.

Also, there's the Artist and Artisan line of bags. I think they sell them at photo village. I always poke around in them when I'm there. But I like the cotton canvas better than leather. It's more casual.

Those are pretty minimal requirements (a roll of film doesn't take up much space), so any fancy "manpurse" should do, e.g., the German Bagjack:

Jon, I see the point of having a bag. I am a bag user also, it fits my way of working with cameras.

But what I don't get is the obsession (read: amount of time and money spent) for "looking cool" ... 🙂
So, am I taking a picture or am I struttin' for others to admire ??

My ideal bag is the Domke F2, it's strong, it's shapeless, ugly, very plain colors, very spartan, it just defies attention.

Ironically, I don't have it yet, it's too expensive to buy new and I can't find people wanting to sell theirs in decent condition. 😀

I see where you are coming from.....maybe I am not saying it in the way I am meaning....I just want a bag that is well made and looks nice. I have never owned a Leica before so I didnt know there were hitmen waiting on street corners to mug people with Leicas....I just want a bag that is functional and compact, while it looks nice and is well made. Im not a real flashy guy, just I thought Leica would have a nice styled, well made bag to complement the M6.....guess not. I will take a look at the Billingham bags to see if one of those will work. I like square bags better, instead of the messenger style.

My God....the man just wants a nice bag for his camera. Let people do what they want. Most of the members here are not pro anyway. The truth is you can do the same thing w/ a Canon or a Nikon. The reality is that Leica is a bit of an "enthusiast's conceit".
Superdan: Try the M-Classic bag. It's a little less expensive than the Billingham and not so flashy. Should be about $170 or so.

the problem i see with your requirements is that you really need a very small bag.
if it's for one camera and lens and some film, all the bags noted already are just too big.

the perfect sized bag for you seems to be the domke 5xa bag. it's small but will still hold more that you have right now so it will accomodate another future lens or 2.

I love my M-Classics bag. Its a nice replica of a Leica bag from years ago and you can get them with the Leitz logo.

I've got A&A's "Oskar's Day Bag" and it's handsome and functional. They do several, all nice looking and well-constructed. There's a canvas and a leather line.

I have a crumpler 4 million dollar bag --- and I like it. As well, I have the Domke fx5a -- and it is a little more sparse, but very compact. You might take a look at these models if don't want to look überfancy. If looking überfancy is one of the aims, Fogg's little bags, the jazz, etc. are a good way to go über 😉

The best bag I could find is a Billingham Hadley Digital, which has enough room for one to two cameras with lens and several rolls of film. Get the black one and you won't stand stand out. I love mine.

I totally agree. You can't go wrong with a Domke. I have three Domke bags. I move my Leica's about in the Domke satchel 802. Which I just love. Besides you can throw a whole bunch of other junk in there as well. Great for long flights as well to move a laptop and a few PBJ sands around in.
