Which Leica Bag should I get?????

Many thanks....I am glad you get where I am coming from. I really like the Artisan and Artist Torpedo Bag. That is kind of what I was looking for. I like the square design and that it's well made and subtle looking. Anything like that, that is different would be great to know about. Billingham is too old fashioned (in general), I am more into modern type photography, in the sense of black and white with lines and abstract type shots. So I wanted a bag to go with the camera that kind of fits my entire point of being a photographer.....hope any of that makes sense.....it will get me in the mood to go out and shoot if I have a cool bag to look at in my room.

WOW.....that Artisan and Artist Torpedo bag sure looks like the one....that is just really good, and pretty close to what I was looking for. If no one else can let me know of a better one, that sure looks like the one. Is it too big for one camera with roll of film and sunglasses, keys, etc...

Seriously? A bag from "a German company?" I guess German canvas imparts better imaging capabilities unto the glass contained within....

If it wouldn't disturb you too much, there are Japanese (oh, the horror!) bags from Artisan&Artist, that are rather swank-looking, in my estimation. But, it's all a matter of personal tastes. I'm sure you and i would disagree on these matters. I actually wouldn't carry a domke or billingham if one were given to me....

.......did you not read the entire thread.....I just said how I loved the A and A Torpedo bag....and my entire point is that German = quality. So before you try to cut me down read the entire thread so you dont look dumb again.....

Just for the record, I have read the whole thread.

Let me get this straight, one body, one lens and a roll of Film. What do you need a bag for?

For a minimalist type, I use a LowePro Sliplock Pouch 60AW. Holds an M w/mounted lens and an extra lens, and a bunch of film and light meter.

On the other side of the equation, I found I like the LowePro S&F Reporter 100. It holds a couple of M's and 4-5 lenses and film, light meter, film, and filters plus a lot more.

I also have the Stealth Reporter, which can carry all my M stuff, plus a Nikon DSLR with lens, or my MF Mamiya and lens, and a load of film.

My question to you is;
Are you a poser, or a shooter, and how old are you?

No disrespect intended.

If you have disposable income, get whatever suits your fancy. But, I would suggest you don't bitch at people that are giving you suggestions.

I will prob ally get flamed for this, but other than cameras/optics/firearms, German made goods don't necessarily mean quality. Look at Mercedes(my number one auto manufacturer).

Quality comes at a price. Branded items even more.

I need a bag to protect it when I travel. Also to carry sunglasses, or other small things such as cell phones. I guess you didnt read the entire thing because I mentioned sunglasses, and other things above....

What does age have to do with anything?......and yes I am a poser. I have millions of dollars, no brain and I want to take pictures with a ****ty German camera made by Leica because I am dumb. That was very disrespectful and I am glad you think you are all that since you are older.....no disrespect intended....leave my thread alone if you have nothing nice to say. I dont trample on yours so leave mine alone.....

If you want a very small bag (i.e. a pouch) that will hold just an M body with lens and money is no object, look at the Fogg Xylophone. It can be carried on the shoulder or worn on a belt and being a Fogg it certainly look classy.
 
I love bag threads ! We should have much more discussions like this.

Dan, I suppose I get what you mean. Me who uses the bag should like it. Posers like me tend to buy the style they like. A&A bags are very nice, but hard to get in Europe - I tend to touch before I buy ( very old fashioned, I know).

I admit that I don´t like Domke bags. I miss something, the padding. Most of the people who praise Domke bags can live without it, but I think a bag should give the camera and lenses a save home when you leave home. I´m not a professional and don´t pretend to be one. I like photography, that´s all.

Dan, I'm sorry if it sounded like I am attacking you. I'm not, just saying I don't get it. 🙂 but my mentioning of Domke F2 is actually part of the discussion in this thread.

If you have a chance when renting some equipment, see if they have one for you to use. Then you can know if you like it or not.

That's how I got to try it out also.
 
I ended up buying the A and A Torpedo Bag from Photo Village. Cant wait to get it. I talked to a owner of one and he absolutely loves it. They only have 4....well 3 left now, of them and it is a discontinued bag, plus the price is under $200 so its a better deal for a quality bag.

Get the National Geographic canvas bag. I can't remember the size, but it is small, very light weight and a great carrier for a small amount of equipment. It also looks very cool and safari-style old fashioned. I got mine at B&H when I visited there a while ago.

A&A makes superb bags. You won't be sorry. But the National Geographic bag was under $40. 😉

I was sorry I bought the Torpedo. When closed, it leaves a gaping hole (OK, 1 inch gap). I bought the bag specifically when caught in sudden downpours during the rainy season. I cannot imaging using the Torpedo with waterproof materials but cannot even close properly.

I should be getting mine on tuesday, so I will let you know if thats a major issue. I hope its not, as San Diego doesnt rain too often....but maybe as I travel it would create a conflict. For that price you really dont want to have a major issue with the bag.

I actually have a friend who is making me a custom leather bag (can't wait)..... How about just going to a Buckle/Fossil store and finding a good leather satchel.... That is basically what he is making for me... This way you can always use it for a laptop, carry on bag, etc...
