Hello there,
I got recently a nice G2 with the Planar 2/35 and the Sonnar 2.8/90. While the Sonnar came with the GG3 hood the Planar was without.
I just ordered a set of GG1 and GG2 hood both with the special cap GK54 which fits on the hood. I was wondering which hood will be best for the 35mm Planar. I know that the GG1 hood is supposed for the Biogon 28 + one filter so there shouldn't be a problem with a 35mm lens. Since I don't want to use filters the GG2 hood might be more effective but I am afraid that there will be some vignetting.
Which hood are you using with the Planar?
Regards,
Tobias

The 35mm Planar takes the same GG-1 hood as the 28mm Biogon.

Tobias: For many years I have used the GG2 hood exclusively with both the 35mm and and 28mm and never have seen any signs of vignetting. I never use a filter.
I just assumed Kyrocera made the GG1 hood for those who wanted to stack multiple filters. It never made any sense that they spec'ed it for the 35mm.
I suspect Ken Rockwell probably just quoted the Kyrocera specs and never actually tried the GG-2 hood on the 35mm and 28mm lenses.
BTW, the hood and hood cap is a very logical solution. I have 3 of the GG2 hoods and hood cap combos for my 28mm, 35mm and 45mm lenses.
