I think I have too many lenses and am narrowing my usable range to just a few.

Out of these lenses which would you keep if you had an M8 and MP?

List them in order of keeping top to bottom.

All Leica Asph

21mm
24mm
28mm
35mm

Tryingto get down to the bare bones here :) I just sold the 75. I am keeping the 50 and 90. Now need to decide which wide to keep. or which 2 to keep.

keep the 21mm & 28cron

If it were me..

If it were me..

I would keep the 24 and 35 to go with the 50 and 90

But that is me. I just sold my Noct and I regret it already, even though I replaced it with the 50 ASPH.

Anyway, I almost emailed you about yoru 75 as I wanted that lens. Just dont have the funds and my wife would really really kill me.

Good luck.

what makes this difficult is that all the lenses are Chrome except for the 28. And the chrome lenses are not made anymore. except for the 50 ( I think ). They are so classy.

Seeing as how I'm a "wide" man.. I'd want to keep the 21mm and the 24mm.. but then again, I have ulterior motives... :D

Jorge, if you decide to sell the 35mm ASPH can you please fire me a PM with your asking price? :)
Oh.. and Steve.. do you still have that MP of yours?

I really got to stop hanging around here... my line of credit is starting to ache!!

keep them all or donate them to me.:D

I'd like the 28 so PM me if you decide not to keep it. I would also be interested in the 35. However, I think , were I you I would keep the 24 and the 35.

Jorge,
I think the 28 gives you a natural (close to 35 mm) FOV. I'd keep the 21 mm for wider work. Sell the rest (and PM me re your 35).
Cheers

If it was me, I'd need the 28 and 35 for the full frame MP and the other two lenses for the M8. This is a hard choice because of the two formats. It'd be much easier choice if the M8 was full frame, but I won't go there.....

If you were keeping ONE I'd say the 28. But I can't imagine shooting the MP without the 35....or the M8 without the 24.....sigh...

Keep the 28 cron to replace the standard focal length. It is so sharp and easy to use on the M8. Also keep the 35 lux. It is the widest 1.4 lens you own and will be important for clean lowlight work. Sell the 21 and 24 and buy the cheap CV15 or ultimately the expensive and beautiful Zeiss 15mm. Btw. I have the same setup as you (M8 and MP) and I haven't been using the MP much at all since I got the M8. My recommendation is what I am slimming down my lineup to, in addition to the 50lux and 75cron for portraits.

Jorge- This doesn't address your question, but you could help me. I have a 75 lux, and am deciding about what discount Leica to get (I bought the first batch) between the 90 and 75 APO. The 90 appeals for the extra length, cleaner view line, the 75 as it just seems slightly crisper, and is smaller. I "want" to prefer the 90! How do you like and use these two? thanks....Peter

If it's the 35 Summilux, I'd keep that and the 21. Even though that's not as evenly spaced as the 21 - 28, for me the fast 35 (46.5 on the M8) is the perect lens for when you are taking only one lens out. If your idea of a perfect walking around lens is a 35 then go with the 28 and 21. But having two /1.4 lenses in the kit sounds pretty good.

Hey,

all you weenies that posted after me.. I got dibs on that 35 ASPH :D :D :D

smirkingly,

If you want rough doubles of focal lengths you probably want to keep the 24 and buy a Voitlander 12mm. That's the only thing approaching a universal formula. I always prefer to base my lens choices on the subject matter and my own compositional preferences from years of experience...none of which necessarily applies to anyone but me.
