Hey guys, I just recently got the Zhou case for my CL, and now all I need to make the package complete is a softie. From what I could gather so far it seems that not all softies fit the CL, is that right? Also, it seems that Tom A.'s mini softies fit the CL or can be modified to fit it.
I had a 9days.hk mini softie on my M8 and really loved it; I'm looking for something similarly small for the CL.
Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

I use the small soft release from Match Technical on my Rolleiflexes. So when I got a CL, I tried one. It didn't work. Something about the length jammed the shutter release.
I had an Abramson (sp?) soft release that came on a camera, so I tried it. I believe it is a 'mini,' about 8mm diameter, slight dome, knurled edge. Well, I think it's an Abramson. Anyway, it fits the CL perfectly, screws in to place solidly.
Maybe I'm out of practice with rangefinders, but it turns out that I get more stability, less motion, without the soft release on the CL. I like the feel of the soft release but not he results, if that makes sense? Try both ways just to confirm.

I've never found soft releases do me any good. They mask the feel of the shutter release and force me to use my finger unsupported.
I roll my finger onto the shutter release button using the guard or collar, squeezing with just enough force to trip the shutter, supporting the bottom of he CL with my palm. It makes the release smooth and effortless, vibrationless.

I use a mini release on my CL because the shutter release travel is quite long and the button surround interferes somewhat.

FrankS, are you referring to the Tom A. mini release?

I'm not sure where this came from. It has a black/white yin/jang symbol on top.

Here's the web page for the Abrahamsson mini-soft-release-

Scroll down to the front shot of the Bessa R2 for the closest thing to a shot of the mini, showing the serrated edge (aside: what bad photography for a photographer's equipment web site!).
Here's the Match Technical site-

No serrations along the edge, a bit more 'dome' to the top. I seem to remember that they offered a yin-yang painted version a few years ago. Interesting if you have this one that mine won't work on my CL but yours will.
I find the Match bug works nicely on a TLR for me, based on how I hold it, etc. I like the soft dome and the lack of serrations. But again, on the CL the Abrahamsson fits well but hasn't helped my release at all. This aspect, if a particular release helps you or not, is going to be very personal.
Both the Match and the Abrahamsson are well-made little objects, by the way. The Match is brass, the Abrahamsson appears to be aluminum.
