Sage....

Sage....

My favorite gear is a Sage One Elite All Water Fly Rod, with the Sage freshwater reel. The reel is loaded with Scientific Anglers Sharkskin Ultimate Trout Fly Line, and I have been tying my own flies for about 30 years.

Is it digital?

I shoot digital the most. Probably the most used camera - GH3 with a DG Summilux 1.4/25 and CV Nokton 1.5/50. Most of the film I shoot is using either the R3 with a Color-Skopar 2.5/50 or R4 with a Color-Skopar 3.5/28.

Most-used: ricoh GXRs with film lenses via M module; GRD 3 and 4; Fuji XE1 35 1.4 and film lenses via M, LTM, Contax G, and other adapters; m43 + 20 1.7.

I have more 35 rf/slr and MF gear than digital, and shoot much of it regularly in an informal cycle. The total percentages of keepers in LR are probably 70:30 digital:film, though.

Mostly I use my Sinar F1, second to that my Mamiya RB67 and last (but not least) my Russian Rangefinders... No digital for me ;-)

This year the order has been

Pentax 6x7
Rolleiflex 2.8E
Olympus Epm-1
Nikon D7000
All other cameras (including a Fuji XE-1 and a canonet QL17 III)

I'd say btw the pentax and the Rolleiflex that has accounted for about 75% of all my shooting in 2013. I am a little shocked at how much i'am enjoying Medium format film compared to digital

Only one roll of film (HP5) shot this year... 😱

My digital output in terms of rolls of film (36 exp) since 1/2013 ... 277 rolls. 😱

Cameras used?

Fujifilm X-Pro1
Fujifilm X100 / X100s
Leica M8
Sigma DP2 Merrill

and I can't even remember what I used for the roll of film... oops.

For me the reason is simple: Space + Time

Space: I do not have a dedicated space to process and print from film.

Time: Without dedicated space, setup and tear down time is a major hurdle. With digital if i cannot finish editing, i can simply close the application and return later. And I hate scanning; might as well go digital with adapted lenses.

Another angle would be to identify the reasons for leaving film behind as the Nr. 1 choice for non-professional photography. Is it cost or difficulty in finding a suitable developer/printer/scanner?

I'm back to JUST collecting film rangefinders, until I can afford to do my custom SS Black Paint M3 for film projects.......... but for now I'm using my M8 digital with the lens that never seems to come off it, a 1954 Nippon Kogaku Nikkor H.C. f2/50 LTM with a Leitz 50mm adapter. 😀
