which40 lens was this?

Last week I was playing with some 40s, the CV 40/1.4 and Rokkor CLE 40/2, and can't quite remember which lens this batch was taken with, can anyone help me id the lens?

There's really very little chance that anyone can say definitively "It's the CLE" or "It's the CV". Someone who knows both lenses well might make (at best) an educated guess. I'll do even worse: I don't own either lens, but will guess that these shots are the CLE. The color rendition and bokeh seem like an older lens.

Really hard to tell Ted, since

- both lenses render very similarly from f2 and up, and none of your shots seems like an f1.4 shot
- the possible Nokton vignetting is "hidden" by your camera
- not really large digital pics either (400 pixel on the long side ?)

Note that many don't seem sharp at infinity but I don't know where you focused either.

This one here, # 36 seems a bit soft, I don't generally recall the Rokkor being so soft, of course it could be a mis-focus though??

That one is just mis-focused.

Assuming you focused on either roof or infinity, probably at f5.6 or more this should be sharper than it is.

Definitely a mis-focus unless you smeared vaseline on the lens or it fogged.

I guess the M8 definitely has one advantage when playing with lenses, it records the lens info. if you use the dot system.

Roland, that is an "abstract" photo. Which part should be sharper, the sky, the clouds, or the roof??
