Hey y'all,
I'm not super knowledgable about issues with optics so I'm looking for a little feedback here.

I just received a Konica 28mm m-hexanon from KEH in bargain condition so I expected there might be some marks or something.
The lens looks great except for some white spots on the outer edge of one side of the elements. It's on the inside behind the front element. I'm just not really sure what it is and if it's something to worry about in the future.
And I could still return it within 14 days for a better condition one.

Greatly appreciate any feedback!
Cheers
Ben

P.S. sorry for bad cell phone pics

Google "schneideritis lens"

Hmm. I can't tell if that's what it is or not. Does schneideritis affect the elements?

On my lens it looks more like little tiny bubbles or almost like salt deposits if that makes sense. And I feel like they are creeping out onto one of the inner elements.

Could it also be fungus forming?

It could be Schneideritis.

Depending how affordable the lens was I would test it and see if it effects your images.

There is a chance this doesn’t do anything to your images.

You bought something rated less than excellent so I am assuming you want to use it. So see if it’s usable first.

I think Schneideritis is a possibility, but I'm not certain as it's usually clearly confined to the edge of affected elements and is due to a breakdown in the blacking paint applied to the edges to limit lateral bleed of light from the element. I've never seen Schneideritis in a diffuse spread like this. As phrons suggested, make a few test shots, some into the light, and see if there is any unacceptable image degradation.

Thanks for the input! Doesn't seem to affect images. I guess I'm mainly worried that over time it will get worse.
