Hello. It is likely I will soon aquire a Nikon S body that needs new shutter curtains. Any suggestions on who does this type of repair are appreciated. I have had a number of repairs on my Leicas done by Don Goldberg, and will ask him about this, but thought some of you may have another repair person or similar experience to report. Thanks.

Bob, I think Pete Smith in Florida will do this job. Google Fotocamera repair. They are in Lake Worth.

Pete has CLA'd both of my S2s as well as several NRF lenses.

Great job and quick turn around....reasonable too.

I was going to say the same regarding the picture of Il Campionissimo.

I had thought Mr. Gandy offered repairs of Nikon rangefinders. Check the cameraquest.com site.

Yes he does. Gandy's repair tech did wonders for my old Nikon M. Definitely recommended.

I'm sure there are repair people closer to you than here in Toronto, but I just like to get Mr. Fung's name out there, because he's done such a great job looking aftermy gear over the last nine or ten years.

Thanks to all for the recommendations, and I will follow up with what I discover. I also plan to have this forthcoming S recovered by Morgan at Cameraleather, probably in something "Kind of Blue."

And to those who identified Coppi, it is nice to meet fellow classic cycling fans. Time for a new avatar...

Bob,
Coppi is one of my all time hero's, I believe if it had not been for the war he would have been greater than the Cannibal. When I was a youngster in the fifties he was top dog. In those days a Tour was about 25% longer than the debacle of recent years and required real men to prevail.

Thanks for the memory,

Well, I'm a big fan of Merckx, so if you wanted to throw a picture of him up there that would be cool. Or Anquetil.

Can't say I recognize the new avatar subjects -- Stirling Moss, maybe?

Ah, the great Stirling Moss...nope, not Moss. Eddy and Anquetil, two greats for sure. Now, there are a zillion pictures of Merckx, but I have yet to see one with him holding a camera. That would be neat.

Well, yes, Norm nailed it. The fellow on the right is one of my favorite drivers, Sir John Surtees. As yet, and likely forever, the only person to win both the grand prix motorcycle and grand prix Formula 1 World Championships. Rossi does not drive F1, and Schumi does not ride motorcycles; Surtees did both at the highest level.

But there are two drivers in this avatar-who is on the left, bowing his head?
