Finally got in touch with Mark Hama about my 35/2 (see previous thread on this lens http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5416 ). The lens has been with him since about August 2004, waiting for a parts donor.

I have never had a Canon serviced before. To those of you who have, who would you think would have the best chance of having the part, or coming across one. Put another way, who does the most service jobs for Canon RF? If it comes to fabricating the part (aperture pin) which repair place/person would you think would be most talented?

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

I've never used him, but Ken Ruth (Photography on Bald Mountain) has a good reputation when it comes to fabricating camera parts. He works on older Canons too.

ray, email every one of them and ask.

essex sounded the most confident about fixing my p and 50/1.9 so i sent it there.

mark hama told me he had no access to parts but would try a repair.
focal point also sounded pretty good.

My only experience is with John Van Stelten at Focal Point (he recemented an element separation in my 50/0.95) but I'm convinced he can do about anything. Worth asking, at least...

I actually received email from both Essex and John Van Stelten today. From your response, I gather either would be a good choice. I have spoken with Ken Ruth about a different camera in the past. I will give him a call. Thanks.
