Why Congratulations? My bah humbug question

it was $500. the camera needs a cla badly, but it's in better shape than i expected. all of the lenses are in excellent condition.
the summilux was the real prize in the lot. i couldn't tell what it was in the picture, i just assumed it would be a summaron. buying it seemed pretty risky to me. here is the description from the auction...

have a leica 35 mm camera made in germany part# M3-1038781 with carring case and extra lens. it in good shape have no use for it so happy bidding

not exactly confidence inspiring, but it worked out pretty well for me.

That sounds like a good deal for me ! Congrats ! :)

Well, since we're talking about good deals now - I got a humdinger for ya:
Summicron 35 V4 FREE! That's right, FREE! Finally at long last I got a really awesome deal on some Leica gear.
Now, the lens was in multiple pieces when I got it and I had to pay to have it cleaned and repaired. It's pretty beat up looking and there is dust inside it but I don't care. Free is free and I'm happy!

Bob, I guess you feel better now about that black paint M4 that you missed out on. :)

i don't know if i feel better about missing that M4, that's a LOT of money i could have made! i am pretty happy about this deal though, i think i'm going to hang onto most of it. i'll probably sell some of it to cover what i paid.
