I was notified by another member here who was kind enough to inform me that my thread got deleted....I was able to read some of the comments that people posted before my thread got deleted....

I have had this happen to me a couple of times (my threads getting deleted/closed).........my question is,

Do the posters who post offensive comments get a warning or anything?

It seems a little unfair.....

I think we all read posts sometimes that we don't like or agree with, but do we really have to post negative comments and insult people......after all this is a photo forum

Anyways, my friend and my camera are back safely from North Korea and I was going to post some photos up and some information....now, I am having second thoughts due to the behavior of some of the members here.....

cheers, michael

Yes, let's see some pics 🙂

I've noticed- on several occasions- that my posts have mysteriously disappeared. Only once was I ever PM'd by a mod in regards to my being silenced.

Off to work now. I bet this thread won't be here when I get home...

I didn't see the other thread, so I can't comment on that. I would like to see some of the photos your friend took. Hopefully comments can be contained to the photos themselves.

What happened in that thread? The last time I looked at it (after posting in it) it all seemed like a rather level-headed discussion.

(Granted, it's not the most neutral of places, but at least the discussion about whether or not tourists with a US passport can go there seemed fine to me - and I mean, it's not really unheard of, there's dozens of sites and even a Wikitravel page on the country.)

It seems to be standard procedure around here these days to delete any thread that has the potential for political comment ... quite sad really IMO.

I agree, it would at least be nice to know why the thread was kicked... But I do understand that the moderators have a lot of better things to do.

Thanks guys for that link to google....someone very cool here emailed me a saved version
of the thread that they just happened to save before it got deleted.....it has a couple of more 'offensive' posts than the cached version....

Cheers, Michael

OK, then that's probably the reason.

That said, I haven't seen those posts - do you think you could post some of the pictures anyway (I'm really interested, too), or do you reckon it'd just provoke the same kind of reaction again?
