Why do I hate the word Vlogging?

In 1910..they probably hated the word..automobile...
And rightly so, since the word automobile is an aberration that doesn't follow the usage for neologisms, which dictates that Greek and Latin forms must never be combined. Normally a new word coined from elements of Greek or Latin origin must conform to the single origin rule: if the main element is Greek then any prefix or suffix must be Greek too and if the main element is Latin then any prefix or suffix must be Latin too.

This ugly word automobile comes from a Latin adjective (mobilis, movable) with a Greek prefix (αυτοϛ, self). A correct construction would have been ipsomobile or autokinetikon.

It would certainly have been much more enjoyable to ride in an autokinetikon than in a mundane automobile... :D

Cheers!

I have to admit that while I had a rant below, about how I dislike new words being invented all the time by hipster dudes and the like, I have to admit its something that has been going on more or less forever and is natural.

Take William Shakespeare for example (a hipster dude from 400 years ago) and how many words he is credited with inventing. (Some still in use - some not). Words like: ( At least according to the site linked below):

Bandit
Critic
Green-Eyed
Lackluster
Swagger
Unearthly

https://www.grammarly.com/blog/15-words-invented-by-shakespeare/

There are at least 400 others many more interesting than those listed above, according to some authorities. https://www.litcharts.com/blog/shakespeare/words-shakespeare-invented/

So I suppose I should not be too hard on whatever hipster dufus invented "vlogging" as a word. It has less baggage than some other recent additions to the dictionary and which I really do deplore as they are designed to do nothing except disenfranchise and express disapprobation by people who should know better. Mostly people who are no doubt university graduates. (It's been said that some ideas are so silly they could only be invented or believed by university graduates. (Thank you Thomas Sowell). Though I am one myself, I am inclined to agree with Sowell's criticism. )
These words include:
Microaggression.
First-world-problem. (Do concatenated words even count as a word?)
Safe space
Cultural appropriation
or even "Ginger" (As in "That guy is a ginger" (usually shortened in parts of Britain to "ginge" referring to hair color and spoken with distinct disapproval.)

(Sorry I once more accidentally bumped the rant mode button on my PC but have turned it off now).

But I must admit I am partial to the childish sounding but generally quite inoffensive "woo-woo" .

And we all know what THAT word means.) :)
