This thing is sold out EVERYWHERE. Pretty much every single online retailer (except buy.com) is sold out of this thing?
Is this a common trend with nikon scanners? When do you think they will become more widely available?
Very frustrating that its so hard to find...

I have heard they make their scanners in small batches. Same is true for the Coolscan 5000, which I own. Go to B&H, request for notification when they become available, then you'll have a chance to get one. I was on the notification list for about 2 months before I got my scanner.

I've heard similar stories. It also appears to apply to the more expensive scanner accessories, like the roll-film adapter.

About 2-3 weeks ago Houston Camera Co-op had a V-ED and the 5000 sitting on a shelf, boxed & ready to go. Call them. They might ship to you.

I got my V a few weeks ago. I was surprised when bh was out of it. Adorama had it, was 10 cheaper than b&h, but they're out now. It's a great scanner, worth the pennies.

Try San jose camera and video. I bought mine from them over a year ago. It looks like they have it in stock.

Amazon has them for $899 shipping from a place called "Toyzz". I bought mine a few months ago directly from Amazon for about a hunder less.
