Why street photography ?

Easy, the answer is this very same thread and being able to watch and enjoy such a wonderful work from people all over the world :)

Thanks guys, lot of nice pictures...
Bystander is hard to get here in Italy, but with some help I will have it one day...I use to sell cameras to but books often...

Then again, new expression....that's what SP is to me, self expression, feelings expression..

I got my copy of Bystander from an online store called Daedalus when it was offered by a mere 10 bucks. Shipping was $15 or so, so I added another book to the cart, 'just to fill', in the end I'm just loving that second book, and I find myself browsing it more often than the other !

Its name is Regarding Manhattan, by author and photographer Joe Rosenthal. And while we're at it, books like that are also the reason why I like street photography :)

It's really beautiful ! Great photo. If all runs well I'll be there in June again.

Thanks Bertram. :) I am hoping I can go back this year. I was stuck here all last year. humbug. I *must* bring my M6 to Paris this time, and the Summitar is taking a ride.

word or no word this one needs words....

this is one of the most famous spots in Los Angeles that nobody ever heard of!

it is where lots of movies shoot to [usually] be NEW YORK, In the movie the SHADOW it was at the corner where the 'invisible' building was, it also stood in for New York City in one of the astroid movies [Armageddon?] that same empty lot next door had the bus that was half underground, the same stretch was the opening street scene in Escape from LA [at least it was LA this time] The Barclay Hotel is on the left side....

Sometimes my friends and I visting form Holland sit and watch all the weird street photographers in Melbourne going about their business. Do we need a model release to do that?

James, you're my hero... ;)

I like street photography because with the swirl of pedestrians, at every street corner at every minute on every day a unique combination of people are collected; sometimes their juxtaposition or their expressions allow us to see something true about the human condition.

It is like a random image generator in which the observational skills of the photographer may be tested.

And it is so hard to do well. My hat's off to anyone who can get even 1 picture in 100 containing something special.
