Will a 135/2.8 Elmarit-M fit on the Lumix G1???

As I'm unable to get my hands on a Lumix G1, has anyone ever tried to mount the 135 Elmarit on a G1 with a M adapter attached? My concern is that the cameras built-in grip will not clear the lens' fixed goggles. Down the road I'm considering a G2 which is the same body as a G1. I'm hoping the camera's improved processing engine give less noise at higher ISO's.
 
So just to make certain, if I leave the M adapter on the G1 and mount or dismount the goggled 135 Elmarit-M, the "round" goggle won't be bumping up on the camera's hand grip, correct? One reason I like the G1 is that the built-in grip will allow better handling with heavy M lenses like my 90/2 and 135/2.8.

I have a G1 and a 135mm f/2.8 Elmarit, and the lens definitely does not fit on the camera. It comes heartbreakingly close, but the eyes bump into the front edge of the handgrip. I wish it worked, because it's a great lens and would do nicely on this camera.

I noticed someone else claimed it fits. I wonder if the different generations of the lens are shaped differently enough to matter. I suppose it is also possible, but less likely I would think, that the brand of adapter makes a difference. (They all must have to be a standard thickness, don't they?)

Sorry--don't count on this to work. I do have a 90mm Summicron to use, and that actually goes a long way.

I'll bet it does! This is the first time I have felt any regret for owning a G1 instead of a GF. Hmmm.
 
Not sure this is helpful information, but I was able to mount a goggled Summicron 35/2 on a G1 by removing the screws holding the goggles to the lens body. The goggles are not necessary because focus is done through the lens, not the rangefinder.

Thanks. I don't know how easy it is to do this to an Elmarit, but I don't want to. I use it on my M rangefinders, where the eyes make a huge difference in usability. If I ever really need such a lens on the G1 I'll find something else. (I already have the 45-200mm Panasonic zoom.)

If you can live with f/4 instead of f/2.8 as max aperture, and if you don't wanna leave the M mount, I can recommend you the Tele-Elmar M 135/4, an extremely sharp lens.

Another option to use the Elmarit 135/2.8 is to get an R to M adapter or an R to M43 adapter and use the R version of this lens. I am almost sure both the M and R version have the same optical formula. The Elmarit-R 135/2.8 can be had at absurdly cheap prices (for a Leica lens) on the usual places. It will beat the cr4p out of the Lumix 45-200 zoom in the bokeh department and for selective focus at max aperture.
