The funniest thing happened at 9:00 this morning ...

... I was looking through flickr, and all the photographs taken with an M8 instantly became dull, lifeless, banal. Flickr groups started taking back their awards; people de-favorited the photographs en masse. Photographers who had posted shots taken with an M8 began leaving apologies for how pedestrian their images suddenly were, warning casual browsers to avert their eyes.

At my coffee break, shabby, mumbling photographers by the hundreds were trying desperately to give their M8s away on street corners; when people turned their noses up in disgust, they were being furtively left in heaps next to municipal garbage bins.

This truly was the day the universe changed ...

There's always the advice, if you don't like these threads ignore them, But somehow I don't even want to see titles for threads about a 7,000 dollar digicam, pro or con, I don't care who makes it.

I used to like this place a lot more when people were talking about repairing cameras and former Soviet cameras etc, (and having heated political arguments) but that's just my taste and I guess I'm in a small minority here.

Edit: Of course present thread excluded.

A lot of interesting things are happening in the world of digital photography. So much so that I think I may sell my entire Canon DLSR system before it becomes too obsolete. I love the M9 discussions, so yes, I'll open as many threads as I please.

I'm with you and Steve, and I'm sure some other curmudgeons.

Can someone set up a digital M- and poll-thread weekly limit?

Gabriel, I like your poll thread, of course. 😉

Are they FF?

Depends on how the closing curtain is adjusted, I think I have a few that are a bit smaller.

With the M9 in my hand today, a beam of light parted the skies over the church I was shooting, and descended to where the IR cut filter used to be on the lens.

The voice of Charlton Heston boomed: "This is good, sell your car and go forth and create images on foot."

I thought it was part of the a la carte option.

beats the hell out of the bag and strap threads. those will come later when we settle down and get back to being RFF again (e.g., Which bag for my black M9?, Will a Gordy strap match my chrome M9?). But no M9 (or bag and strap threads) from me. I'm off to remember the good ol' days by perusing the 'Post an image from your Yashica' or maybe the 'Camera and Coffee' thread.

Actually all this talk has me fondling my M4 again. I'll admit to an interest in the M9, which I might be able to realise in about two years time!

Edit: And what's really sad is that I'm spending a good proportion of the purchase price of an M9 on dental work this year. :bang:
