wipe marks; what is the effect?

I used an eye-glass repair "kit" to improve the performance of a collapsible Summicron 5cm f2 that was opaque when I got it. It is a liquid polymer that dries to a fairly hard surface. I used optical polishing sheets to get rid of the worst of the damage and the repair kit to fill in the many wipe marks. Overall contrast was reduced compared to a mint Summicron, but it gave surpisingly good performance. At F2, good portrait lens and at F4 hard to tell the difference.

I was wondering about those kits, did you happen to photograph, document, the process?

Would not use the process casually, i.e. for every scratch, but from you this sounds much more interesting.

Are you planning some more experimentation?

Regards, John

I did not document the process- not much to it.

I have used the lens, and will upload some pictures taken with it this weekend.

Roger and Raid, my "flirtations" with younger women mostly consists of remarking about their new hair style, piece of jewelry, or outfit, lipsick color, etc., all things that their boyfriends or husbands don't notice or mention. Between my background in photography, which included photographing hair styling shows for many years, and having lived for a dozen years with a beauty shop owner, I tend to notice. A few of them have remarked about how refreshing it is to find a man who isn't just staring at their cleavage. I'm not looking for an eighteen year old girlfriend.

...and I'd LOVE to meet her! Would you consider a trade for a chrome 90/2.8 Elmarit with a classic IUFOO hood . Clean glass but the hood and lens barrel have a few grey hairs.

If you go to http://thepriceofsilver.blogspot.com there are plenty of pictures of me to show to her, along with my rambling writings to back up the commonly held opinion that I'm a nut.

I'll mention it to her, Al... but, honestly, I don't think you could handle her. She's quite a handfull! Besides, she thinks I have too much camera equipment already :)

Rather than a trade, perhaps you would like to join us for dinner sometime. I could use a warm-up act!
