Wordpress Portfolio Themes

Hello,

I would like to build a website for my pictures.

I really like the theme named "Offset" on the website of Format:

However, since I have already paid for a web hosting service, I'm looking for a similar Wordpress portfolio theme: minimalist, horizontal with menu on the left, allowing me to show my pictures individually, not in series.

I have looked through many Wordpress portfolio themes, free and paid, but liked none of them. Some so-called minimalist themes are not minimalist at all, and many of them are of bad taste, at least to me.

It appears the "Offset" theme I like is for sale:

But I don't know if it's exactly the same as the one used by Format. Also, I have no idea what HTML5 templates are, nor if they can be used as Wordpress themes.

When I was used wordpress.org, my template was Milo. It seems to be what you describe.

It was easy to use and very flexible. Have a look here.

Wordpress has made great strides, but it was not designed with photo galleries first and foremost.

You should have a look at Koken, Lychee, Piwigo or GNU MediaGoblin.
