Worn M6?

Ok I saw the thread on the worn MP photos which got me thinking. Why have I never seen a photo of an M6 all worn? I read something about changing to a zinc top instead of brass? Is this it? Is my beloved M6 never going to get worn? 🙁

it'll get "worn" but in an ugly, grey kinda way 🙂 Black chrome doesn't wear the same way brass did. Unless you have a rare brass top plate.

I dunno what I gots 😛 It's one of the very last M6 nonTTL models made, with a .85 finder.

Chances are it's a zinc top plate, don't worry about it though, it'll wear just fine.

cool. I was just curious.. that must be why the corners look sorta funny grey like in certain light.. worn off the original patina a bit I guess... of course I got a Luigi case this week for it as well but I'd still like to see the wearing at some point on the top..

I know I'm odd.

worn m6

my m6 shows some wear, chrome showing through above the eyelets, strap ring wear. mine is from the first gen, leitz roundel, non-bumpered model. looking good imho.

Call me crazy, but I actually prefer the wearing of the chromium black paint of the M6 over the shiny black enamel over brass of the MP.
I know I'll be in the minority but the brassing looks kind of "loud" to me and reminds me of gold, which I find gaudy. The chrome wearing is more subtle looking to my eye.
In fact, if I could ever afford a new MP, I'd probably buy the chrome version.
