maybe it's the cold pills talking here, but...

i'm all hot & bothered about the yet to be released fuji 27 (40 pov)...thinking about how it's going to be my main kit along with the smaller x-e1 body...i might end up using it for most of my outings but carrying a few other lenses along, 'just in case'...
in another thread, someone suggested i take the rx100 alone to ny so i could enjoy my trip and travel light (real light)...

putting all these notions together my mind wonders down the 'what if' avenue and i think maybe i should just buy the rx1, use it and if i like it then sell everything else except the rx100 and have an rx kit only.

it sure would make the bag choice simple...😉
 
Sounds like it could be......until the next "perfect camera"

I have at least 20 'perfect cameras'.

But NO perfect camera bags!

Are you going to sell the X-pro and X-e1? You've already lost the Epsons, this is a downward spiral until you reach a frenzy of weekly replacements.
'tis a fine camera though, especially with the evf.
 
Thoughts on the RX1:

1. It appears the lens/sensor combo really is the cat's meow.
2. It's mighty tempting as I love Zeiss lenses and the 35mm focal length.

However:

3. It's very expensive. Your proposed new kit (what number is that btw 😉 ) would work but you still would have a lot invested in one fixed-lens camera.
4. Are you really getting something far greater than what you have (given the price)?
5. External viewfinder. This is now (mostly) a deal-breaker for me. It wasn't until I starting shooting with the NEX 5N and then found the LCD was impossible to see in bright light. I added the EVF but find it a hassle to have to keep track of.
6. CDAF. It could be the NEX in general or it could be my particular camera, but I'm not a big fan of CDAF at the moment. I think paying about $3K for a camera with it (one that will be difficult to focus manually in some instances if not always) is a bit crazy. (note just my opinion)
 
I've never felt so at ease with my cameras since I returned to film. I have an OM kit for rough conditions, Leica M2s for holidays, Hasselblad and Mamiya 6 for messing around at home along with Nikon FM3A and 50/1.2 and 28/2.8AIS for days out. What could be simpler 🙄

If I were to go down the digital route, with todays offerings in mind I would go with the Xpro1 or XE1 with the new 14mm, and 60 combined with the X100s. Use the X100s for when I just want to carry one lens, and have a 2 camera option for holidays eg the XE1 and 14mm combined with the X100s with the 60 in the bag. Simple! The thinking is that the output of the Fuji cameras will be similar easing post processing.
