Very tempting... I don't mind an "ugly" camera as long as it "works perfectly"... What do you think?
Cheers

I dunno if it's a good price, but assuming it does actually work, I sure wouldn't mind the condition. The lens certainly looks clean. Any chance you can actually go touch and feel it, to make sure it's all it claims to be (nothing is loose, shutter speeds actually change, etc)?

yes, absolutely. If it truly "works perfectly" then nothing else matters. the lens looks perfect. Maybe the last owner just kep it in a sandpaper sack. I would just ask if there might be more than average dust and grime inside the camera (like in the workings). Very often cameras like this have been kept in places like backpacks and nasty junk gets in there.
If it looks clean though - I would buy it.

Appears to be honest wear rather than abusive damage. After a test roll to verify basic function, off for a nice CLA at the camera spa?

Ask them to check the frame counter, the camera counts all the frames that has ever been taken with it. One unit means 10 frames, so if they say the counter says 263 then it's 2630 frames whic is approximately 93 rolls of film.

Thanks! That's a great tip. Any idea how long the shutter is supposed to last on these things?berci said:Ask them to check the frame counter, the camera counts all the frames that has ever been taken with it. Yep, The worn-out body does look good to me. I'll have the opportunity to check it for real at the store on Saturday (if it's still there...) I've always been interested in the X-Pan, this might be the (relatively cheap) ticket.BJ Bignell said:I dunno if it's a good price, but assuming it does actually work, I sure wouldn't mind the condition. LOL! Isn't there a law against this kind of abuse?themirana said:Maybe the last owner just kep it in a sandpaper sack.

These cameras are very well made so I expect the shutter to last a couple of lifetimes.
If the camera inside looks clean and nice then don't worry about the outside. If you buy the camera take it to Hasselblad to have its firmware upgraded, that will increase the B time up to 540 seconds as I know.
