Would You sell M and stay with a T3?

Get rid of all that 35mm gear, it's a dead end. It's nice to fondle old Leicas and Contaxes but face it, the picture quality doesn't begin to compare with the results from an inexpensive medium format or a modern digital camera. Why tie thousands of dollars up in a mediocre format?

Hey, why stop there? In terms of image quality, 4x5 beats any 120/220 format hands down. But then, 5x7 kicks 4x5's butt. And 8x10 blows 5x7 away. But wait: 11x14 beats even 8x10!!

So there's your answer: Eschew all cameras and emulsions that are smaller than 11x14. "The best or nothing," as the current Mercedes-Benz TV ads say.

But then on the other hand, maybe there's more to photography than ultimate image quality... 😉

The T3 would be no longer serviceable after January 2015. That's one big disadvantage when comparing with Ms.

When the end comes I'll just rip a T3 apart and plant the Sonnar into some Soviet barrel...

So guys, Finally I've bought a Barnack: IIIC with 28 Skopar, hyperfocal and enjoy.

I'm keeping the MP. The rest on sale (Cron 35 IV, Elmar 50 M, Elmarit 28 asph, T3...).

Well, the Barnack and 28 Skopar certainly looks like the kind of tidy package you can keep on you and turn into a kind of mechanical extension of your own body (like a pair of glasses) BUT I'm not sure if it's the best idea to fight the temptations of GAS by buying a 'new' bit of kit.😀 How long before the siren call of a different bit of gear beckons?🙂

You can also replace the M with a Bessa or an Ikon and save cash.

The T3 is a wonderful camera with some limitations. You can't override the ISO setting which is a nuisance. Manual prefocus is a major PITA. Exposure compensation is a minor PITA. The viewfinder is simply not meant to be used with glasses on, if you happen to be a glasses wearer. But size, lens and focus speed are all very nice. I ended replacing mine with a Fuji Klasse S, which adressed 3 of the 4 issues above (and introduced another).

But you should really shoot some more before deciding on buying and selling stuff. Nothing beats hands-on experience for decisions like this.

Good call on keeping the MP. Can't see how that could be a bad thing.

The Barnack & Skopar are a unique combo - I too shoot with a 28 for street and documentary work and have come to regard the 28mm as my do it all lens.
