Sell my equipment for a X2?

Look at your original kit list in the first post. You had everything you needed and could have just ditched the m8 to generate funds, maybe even the Rollei as well if necessary. The camera was *never* the problem.

The problem is only very very rarely the equipment.

He's done the right thing: simplify down to one thing he wants to work with, eliminate distraction, and go to work with that. Getting off the hamster wheel of equipment churn and minimizing distraction can do nothing but improve his photography.

I've been through this cycle several times. I'm finally (again) at the point where I have what I want to work with, will sell off the excess, and will concentrate even more on the work. So I know exactly what he's gone through.

Sometimes having too much is overwhelming. It can be beneficial to some to pair down and concentrate. Some people can have 100 cameras and use them all. Some people benefit from having one camera and just using it.

I agree with much of this thread. I too find simplicity and lack of choice liberating. For example I did a long weekend in Paris last year, and since I decided on the baby backpack as the transport for my 1 year old, I had no space for extras. M6, 50mm, 3 rolls of film, done, and had a fantastic weekend with great photos to boot.

Well done Bruno, I've been following your flickr for some time and am really impressed. I think you would do well with any old light tight box, so i'm glad you've cleared your mind and wish you good luck on the next phase of your journey.

Cheers,
Rob

Yes Bruno, I'm OK, sick of this winter, but still alive, always a plus.
A good thread, your quandary is one many face, me included. Too much gear.
I'm actually buoyed by the comment Rob has just made. I am in Paris for a week soon, and while I will likely take the NEX7, if I can locate an M6 before then, I'll take that and a 50/2, and some B&W film.
Post some of the new X2 pictures soon.

...for a minute there I thought that you weren't gonna buy another new camera. A real nail biter. Phew ...that was a close one!

Sorry, I do not really understand this if it is not a joke, but we are all so different...each one has his own priorities...time to take pictures now🙂
