would you trade in your RD-1 + CV lens for a fuji X100

RD1 is a much better camera IMO. Just simply it's ability to RF and use lots of lenses is enough to outdo any new fixed lens toy. And RD's 6MP files always look good to me even compared to much more expensive cameras. So - NO WAY. I dont even see a need to "upgrade" to M8.....

The decider for me was the availability in the UK of a brand new E-P1 with 17mm f2.8 and optical finder for £300 - around a third of the price of an X100. I now have a 12mp camera that takes all my old M and screw-mount lenses via Voigtlander adaptors, adding image stabillisation to the game. I've not had to sell the R-D1 either!

Apples to oranges... obviously having the choice of several lenses is a serious advantage, but if you are happy with a rockin' 2/35, amazing image quality, and very responsive operation, then the X100 is hard to deny.

At least you have a CV lens instead of a VC lens like half the people here.

No I would not trade it off. But I might buy one any if I thought I could live with one lens which I can not. If I could, 35 mm equivalent would not be it anyway.

Absolutely not. Personally I can't even see how this is a possibility in your mind, but that's just me.

I don't want to turn this into a "this camera is better than that camera" thread, but the R-D1 is better than that camera. IMO, of course ;-)

to be clear ....... Hell No! The overall IQ might be better at mid to high ISO on the Fuji, but at the cost of sacrificing so much more (as mentioned, manual focus, changing lenses, etc) .... which is part of the reason that RD-1's in good shape still sell used for $1100.

I wouldn't since I am not much of a fan of autofocus, wide open I never seem to get the focus exactly where I want it without fiddling with the AF point controls longer than MF takes me.
Also if I had to have only one lens I would choose a 50mm (equivalent)
