X-pro1 lens hoods

Anyone NOT using hoods on their xf lenses? Any tests done with regards to flare and/or contrast?

I often use the 18/2 without a hood, simply because it's such a compact combination. Sometimes it veils a bit but it's generally one of the more flare-resistant lenses I've used. The 35 I generally use a hood with. But often I just carry the hood for the 18 and use it on both lenses. Haven't had serious flare problems with the 35, either. Haven't even touched the 60.

i use them...but then i always use a lens hood...never a lenscap, ever.

Those rubber lens caps stay at home before I loose them. Shame on you Fujifilm for such a poor design there on such a lovely camera. I am always using the hoods supplied. I see no reason to spend any money replicating the experience with another unless there is a proven benefit.

I now use the hood, since i have an uv filter. That way i don't have to use the lens cap. It is almost impossible to remove (or put on) the lenscap while the hood is on. THAT is poor design!. Or maybe is it common in the rangefinder world? Coming from Canon slrs, i have never seen this before.

I like my camera/lens combination to always be as compact as possible... easier in and out of camera bag, and doesn't bump into stuff so much when swinging around on my shoulder. So I tend to leave the Fuji hoods at home and instead use a small old Minolta clamp-on hood, just to have a 'bumper' for protection.

I always use the 18 and 35 hoods and rubber caps, but I shimmed the caps/hoods with gaffer tape to tighten them up. The 60 hood is a PITA and huge, so I sometimes skip it for general use; I usually use it for macro.

I use the hood with the 35 f/1.4 XF and rarely the cap (unless the camera is being stored).

I notice significant flaring when shooting towards the sun but the hood would not help in this situation. In my experience, the 35 is prone to flares.

One reason I ask is that one of the hoods (can't remember 18 or 35), twists off very easily. Every time I put it in or remove it from my bag, the slightest rub will twist it off. Is there a way to tighten or secure the hoods better?
