Given that I am always so attentive to the advice of others 🙂, here is a quick poll. I've had my X-Pro1 for almost 2-1/2 years, and it has served me well.

As to plusses, the camera has had:
- Superlative image quality
- Fantastic lenses, esp. the 14mm and 35mm
- Excellent build quality
- Pretty much bulletproof operation

As to the minuses, they primarily relate to the needs of shooting the small children ("gremlins") in my house, I'm not sure that any has been addressed by Fuji yet in any body:

- Extremely slow TTL flash system with limited flash choices and no HSS
- Relatively low battery capacity
- AF that is not quite what it needs to be (for small children; it's fine for grownups)

One aspect of toying with whether to sell off this set is that I bought it when I despaired of an M10 - and eventually, that M typ 240 arrived, and it is quite good (even the SF 58 works well). Oddly, for the kids, I find it easier to use the manual focus on the Leica (probably because it stays put between shots).

There's no real financial consideration (other than that I might put the proceeds toward the mythical MF Fuji digital). It's just that the camera gets relatively little use and had a lot of cluttery bits and bobs. I'm also getting tired of all of the disparate Li-Ion batteries inhabiting my drawer.

So is this a good time to cut the cord? I pulled out all the factory packaging and found that I had everything except the oddball USB cable (for which I ordered a replacement).

Sit tight with what you have until you have a better idea of what you are jumping into. Maybe the X-Pro2 will fill the bill, or maybe not. Wait until the jury is in.

I would sell the Fuji set and wait for the new Fuji MF or get a Leica M9. I sold mine a while ago and I am glad i did.

If the M240 is working for you, then just use that. If you can manually focus easily, then I'd just do that. Perhaps stop down a little to increase your DOF too.

If you're using it, and liking it, keep. If not, no point hanging onto it really.

keep the lenses, sell the xp1, consider a used x-t1 for the gremlins when prices fall

Looks like the Ewoks have gotten to it already! Here is one and some of her work.

Is it possible the X-Pro1 might be considered a classic, or am I dreaming?
That said, it does have its flaws, but seems to be well loved by the many who have owned or still own them.
If you've fallen out of love, sell and move on whilst they still have a value.

I think as far as digital cameras go, yes, it is kind of a classic, but I doubt it'll keep values up that much. Compared to an old Canikon, I expect it'll depreciate slower, but even cameras like the Epson R-D1 and Leica M8 just keep on dropping.

If your main problem with the af is, that it does refocus when you take a picture, then there is a solution. Use backbutton focus. This way focus is not coupled to the shutter button.

I'm the wrong guy to ask... the X-Pro1 is the one camera I don't mind having around and not using... I'm going to let it depreciate because I just like it. It is one of the special cameras in my life along with the Leica M6 and the Leica Minilux. I don't have those anymore.

Dante,

I'm in the keep it for travel category. Plus I actually like it, for some grab & go situations, even against my M9-P

Oh, and to let the kids use when they absolutely have to take a photo and your phone is just not good enough.

I am keeping my X-Pro 1. I have two XT-1s I use on gigs The X-Pro 1 is my daily carry. I also enjoy using the OVF. The focus situation is solved by using the AFL button in M mode. I don't photograph fast moving subjects. The lenses are wonderfully cost effective. I have never seen a photograph from the Fujinons where I thought, "The lens let me down". I can't say that for the numerous F-mount or m4/3 lenses I've used.

I voted for "the lime pit has been dug!". All camera systems have disadvantages we endure because we value the system's strength's. If having to keep a set batteries charged annoys you, then you are done with the Fujifilm experiment. A four-pocket ThinkTank batter holder is a simple solution ( use two, two-pocket holders).

Do you have enough control over the camera to do zone-focusing for little ones?

Digital systems have a much different lifespan that analog cameras had.

Strictly from a financial perspective I'd go with sale. You can always go back and replace everything in a few years if you feel you must. Emotionally it's hard to go that way if I love the camera. But financially rules my life these days, sorry.

Why sell? The lenses are superb. What if you find a body you like at photokina. It may be the "end all" body (at least for the moment 😉 ).
You will still have your lenses and the Xpro1 will make an excellent back up and second body.

I love the M system as well but the Fuji lenses are too good to be true. Plus... you can own nearly all of them for the price of a Summilux!

I voted keep it all. Use as a travel camera. Wait for the xp2 or the organic sensor to come out before making a final decision.

The XP1 is similar to a Leica in that the OVF is limited.. so it gives a similar experience in that respect..

But, it is not really a camera for gremlins on the floor, unless you use the 18 in MF with a small f/stop (f11).... do get deeper DOF.
The Leica offers the same being MF, so, it is a choice...
The XP1/2 will offer AF, the use of longer and zooms lenses with the EVF or LCD.
So, your XF lenses may still have a purpose, if you want a body with more focus options and longer lens options....

I may like an XP2 as second body to my X-E2 because of the OVF for the 18/35/60 frames for Street... I own the 18 and 35..

But, It is a more specialized X body for sure.. and the M240 is certainly the most capable Digital M IMO. but MF only, as any Leica M
