Over the last few years I have taken hundreds of shots of the staff I work with, next week I retire after 34 years, t feels a little unreal. Just a few images here of the staff that have graced my working life🙂

The thing I love about working in the NHS is that my colleagues come from all over the globe, Netherlands, Greece, Germany, Philippines, America, India to name but a few. I am known to be a lover of the exotic, (where food is concerned), so I have a very varied lunch diet, my Filipino friends reckon I should have been born in Manila as I love their food. Below is a picture taken this afternoon on the trauma list, my last Tuesday with the uys in the image, I have ran their theatre as the charge nurse for over a decade, never missing a Tuesday. I am the one in the middle

I also retired this year, but I am ten years older. I retired from my full professor position in energy at a university and I am now spending my time in corona isolation with my wife and our 8 dogs, horses, 50 sheep and 2 cows (and a glass wine on accasions!). I never now wear a watch and can do what I like. I do some consulting for people I like, but I try not to fill my time with projects I do not like.

My only regret is that I did not retire at your age, there are so much I still want to do outside university and so little time left. The last years at work was like a long wait for freedom.

Enjoy your retirement and do not look back! The years go much more quickly as you become older, use your retirement well!

Wise words, thank you, I think it will take a while to get used to my 'new way of life', this last year my weeks have ran between 60 working hours to 80 hours. I feel a few weeks rest will be needed, coupled with reflection, before the projects start
