X70 with pics

....nothing like a true Ricoh snap focus on the X70....

Poop.

As I start to get to point where I'm thinking of jumping back into and invest in a system I would really like to have the same maker/mount/menus for RFish and SLRs.

The X70 seems like a natural fit as I loved the Ricohs I had over the years. I find that I want something longer from time to time so removable lens X body with say a 35/2 and a longer zoom would allow me to have the same functionality I had with my Nikon S2/F combo.

Keep us in the loop as your system grows.

Thanks for your help.

If you want small CV has one:

A bit pricey, but it's small.

If your talking about the 28/35

It is smaller than the ones I've used in the past..but the one that I got from the dp1 Merrill was about the same but half the length and definitely not so expensive.

Here is a link to the one from the dp1 Merrill at b&h

Yes I was.

There are a number of good 28mm finder from different companies out there from years past. I've had very good luck with the metal CV finders that I've purchased separately, and equally good luck with the plastic ones that came with the lenses I bought.

The Sigma one above looks like CV glass with a different skin (nicer looking skin IMHO) from the standard. Might be another manufacturer, but I'm not sure how many folks still do small runs of brighline finders.

There always is the old Leica SUOOQ, never had one, but it looks like it's a 1:1 finder (my favorite as I can keep both eyes open).

That Sigma and B&W is a very reasonable price for what it is.

Don't forget the Nikon 28mm VF it made for the Coolpix A.

Well, my new X70 arrived yesterday and while it does have that Fuji X feel I'm disappointed. The focus seems to be unable to lock on as it should. With pressure on the shutter button the green focus square shunts back and forth, albeit a fraction and results in every other shot being out of focus. Never expected this. I've adjusted every setting I can think off but still no joy. May well be back in the post tomorrow.

The DPReview review mentioned the same thing about the focus.
I'm sure it's something fixable through firmware updates, it sounds like it should be at least.

After a while spent ogling it, it just doesn't meet my needs, I'm very happy with the GR.

I look forward to seeing what people create with it though.

Okay, hands up, it may have been my fault. No matter what I changed via the menus I couldn't stop the problem with focus. Anyhow I've discovered that it was the focus button on the front which was on continuous AF. Doh!
Seems fine now, AF fast and locks on well. Now to get shooting.
