Q: Is the 27 mm XF lens a fixed aperture? What is its equivalent to a full frame lens? If you own and use one, tell me about it please.
Why am I asking this, well, I'm tempted to sell my XF 60 and buy the 27 as I use the, or should that be don't use it, often. It sits in my camera bag, the one I rarely take out with me when I go street shooting (bag and lens) as I tend to stick with the XF 35mm on my X-T10, and use a Tesco school bag that definitely doesn't look like a camera bag.
I even have the 18 mm XF lens which is rarely used too if never used.

The 27 has no aperture ring, but is NOT a fixed aperture lens. You change aperture using the control thumbwheel on the back of the camera.

It is a wonderfully small lens, and very good for travel or just kicking around. We are on vacation next week and I will have only the XE1 + 18mm + 27mm with me.

I had the 35 and 27 at the same time. The 27 is a fine lens, it is compact and unobtrusive, my XT1 could almost fit in a coat pocket, but I never used it.

Compared to the 35 there isn't a world of difference in the focal length nor the size of the lens was not that much different than the 35, and the 35 is Fujis best xf mount lens imo.

Also using it took a little getting used to as it is the only Fuji lens not to have the aperture dial on the lens.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, the lens is optically sharp and uses a 39mm filter thread. I happen to like this focal length but some don't and it has been the only Fuji lens on my XE1 until recently. It focuses pretty close too and can be quite versatile.

Hmm... Sounds good. I might trade in my XF 60 mm for it as I never use it. I don't get much call for it while street photographing and a 40 mm is a good compromise between the 35 (50) mm and the 18 (28) mm I have. Thanks for the feedback.

I'd second scooter's comments above. I had the 27mm lens but found that I'm always preferring to use the 35. Another issue with the 27mm lens, for me at least, is that when you use it in manual-focus mode, the focusing ring is small, turning is uncomfortably stiff, and makes a lot of unpleasant noise when turning. Image quality is fine with the 27, but all these other little things just 'bugged' me too much.

Another thought… the Fuji X100 cameras have a focal length similar to the 27 and thus might be another alternative to think about. I have the X100T and love it… great partner for the interchangeable lens Fuji's. The X100T fills that 35 - 40mm gap well and so I only need the 16mm, 35mm, and 18-55mm lenses for the X-T1.

PS .... a few months back, I sold my original 27mm (because I didn't like the thumbwheel aperture thing). No joke .... I knew that selling it was a mistake as soon as I shipped it out. A month later, I bought another one.

Believe it or not, I sold my X100s & X-Pro1 to fund my purchase of the X-T10 I now use. Best decision I made as with the XF35 mm attached, it's the perfect setup for me, but there are times when I could do with a slightly wider angle lens. I'm an 50 mm shooter and had bought the TCL-100 for my X100s: it went with the camera.
