Xpan Bulb Setting/Remote Release

I'm looking for some clarification on my new camera. I just picked up my first Xpan with the 45/4 and have been reading about the bulb setting on the camera. I understand the XPan 1 has a short bulb time. Does this mean if I use a remote shutter release cable, I cannot lock the shutter open for as long as I wish? Thanks in advance.

Original XPan max bulb time is 270 seconds / 4.5 minutes. XPan II max bulb time is 540 seconds / 9 minutes. No you can not go past those times.
