Xpan shutter speeds..

Hey ya'll

Im just curious, does anyone find the shutter speeds on the xpan (2) frustratingly limited???....

Using the aperture priority mode, there are big gaps between speeds, eg 1/30 to 1/60, .. no 1/40.
The figures continue...

I realise in auto mode, you got more range but its only really good if you just wanna point n shoot, as you cant hold a speed.

I dunno, its something that is starting to annoy me more and more, especially in tricky situations where theres a fine line and the speed you want is not available. Which brings me to the next point, i dont own/use a hand held meter, but what would be the point??... It suggests a shutter speed that you dont have!!!

Anyone else get frustrated by this???

???? You`re worrying too much, no other camera with traditional manual control offers shutter speed steps with less than a stop between them, besides you can adjust the aperture of your lens in half stops, and the exposure compensation on your camera works in half stops too. In other words, this is a non-issue...

That`s odd, my xpan 1 shows speeds as 1,2,4,8,15,30,45,90,125,180,250,350,500,750,1000 in AE mode.

You can lock your exposure in auto by choosing the area you want properly exposed and pressing the shutter release button half way and holding it, then recompose if you need to then take the shot, easy peasy!

Maybe your camera is selecting these inbetween speeds but only showing the nearest speeds as shown on the shutter dial. Hopefully someone with the xpan2 can check theirs as well, either way xpan2 is a fantastic camera, enjoy!

So if your using auto mode, and u wanna shoot longer exposures than is possible using hand held, then you gotta use the timer im guessing, coz you cant depress the cable release half way to lock exposure then fully to shoot???...

I use a tripod with a cable release and in auto I can meter to 8 secs, anything longer have to use bulb, hand held meter or guess exposure.

Usually in auto I tilt the camera down a bit to meter on the forground or so I don`t get too much sky in my reading, set the shutter speed to suggested speed,recompose and trip the shutter. Has worked well on tripod up to 8 secs with cable release.
