Y Strap, Anyone

No but I have a similar strap from Leicagoodies. Works great.

I have a Steven Schaub Y-strap and as good as it is I don't seem to use it ... the camera hangs in the perfect position and they are extremely comfortable but I just don't seem to be a strap sort of person.

Eventually I'll probably drop a camera and will have a change of thinking! 😛

Excactly the same here! 🙂

I have the Y-strap and I rarely use it. While it does work and I find it okay with my Oly E-420 & 25mm pancake or most compacts I don't use it with my RD1 as the weight is just too much (I feel) for hanging on just one starp lug.

Like Chris, I made my own. A split ring, some 1" webbing, and a couple of triglides - stuff I already had, so it cost me nothing. It's adjustable, secure, low-profile.

I got Y strap and can't get use to it. when my R-D1 is hanging of it its fine. nice low profile to the side. But when i start to slide it up to shoot, strap ends up hitting my chin and left side of the face. its kind of annoying.

Thanks. I just worked another system...10 minutes ago. A thrift store LLBean liver shaped bag with some some foam inserts. On the shoulder strap (that also fits across the chest) I attaced a climbing carabiner. With this carabiner I can attach the bag to my belt if I want to carry the camera around my neck or wrist (and in addition if the bag is full or not in use[camera & lenses] it can not be snatched off my shoulder) and/or using one the those ubiquitous rings I can attach the camera to the bag strap using the carabiner as the slide. The carabiner slides along the strap. The carabiner is long enough so that the camera can be flipped into the bag and the bag zippered. The camera still attached to the carabiner.
I have not tried it out.

Sorry, no digital camera. However to give a better description look at either of the two photos posted above and assume that the strap is attached to a camera bag. In photo #2 instead of the ring attached directly to the strap it is attached to a (non locking) mountain climbing carabiner. (Carabiner has test strength of 3000 lbs plus. It is shaped like a large 'D'. One side has a movable pin that presses inward to open the 'D'.) It slides easily up and down the strap. I always carry a carabiner with my camera bag to attach it to immovable objects while I am not using my camera, i.e. eating, airports. I have my Leica strap through it which affords me of ample room to move the camera about. The Camera attached to the carabiner can not be taken from me when the carabiner is attached to my belt. Now the disclaimer...as per my last...post I just put this together looking at the photos above, though as I stated, I always carry a carabiner. I am certain there are some climbers here who have used such a device for attaching life saving devices to themselves. The carabiner is also a common device among Fire Fighters and Police Swat Teams.
