My Red Dot Glows For You
...it would have been ten 50mm lenses, but didn't realize I had forgotten my Contax 50mm Sonnar f/1.5 lens, which has the Contax-to-Leica adapter, until I was sitting taking the shots (the other lens was going to be the Helios-103) :bang:
These were all taken with --hold your breath/venom/sarcasm/screams for another thread, please-- an M8 that just arrived from Popflash Photo this Saturday (thanks, Tony!)
I shot all of these RAW, and applied the same settings to all of them, so you could see the main contrast and color rendition differences. Some of them are stronger than others, like the Summar and the Jupiter-3, which turned out with a strong Skylight filter cast, for that's the filter that's attached on them.
There are a few slightly under-exposed shots, for I was shooting in manual mode, and the lighting conditions where changing throughout the afternoon.
The spot I was going to use was closed for "renovations" or something like that, so I chose this spot for a few reasons: the subject doesn't move, there's backlighting, and a horrible background which can break any bokeh (or use whatever word you like) characteristics of the lens. The focusing distance was about 14 feet.
The lenses tested:
50mm Summilux-M pre-asph E46
50mm Summarit f/1.5
50mm J-3 (f/1.5)
50mm J-8 (f/2)
50mm Summitar f/2
50mm Summar f/2
50mm Summicron f/2 (tabbed version, aka IV)
50mm Canon f/1.2 LTM
