Hi,
My new(old) Yashica arrived today and I've been having a bit of a tinker with it.
It's got no battery yet, so the shutter's going off at what seems like the predicted 1/500th.
When I open the aperture right up to 1.7 and look through the open back at a light source, it appears that all the blades of the shutter don't open right out. Let me clarify; ALL blades are moving the same amount, it's just that I'm getting a star shape when I look at the light source.
When I stop the aperture down to 2.8, the pentagon of the aperture makes the light source look as expected.
Am I being a bit premature, considering I haven't even put power in her yet?
I just expected all the leaves to full open in that 1/500th.
Help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Yashica Chops. I`d suggest trying a battery adapter first. The Yashica Guy.com has a great web site, which I`ve found very helpful. Remember these cameras are now over 30yrs. old and it probably has`nt been used for some time, so if all else fails a good CLA maybe needed. Good luck and enjoy, Alan.
